  • Alternate Art Karui Ward Unique Item (15 available to be won)
  • Alternate Art Shiversting Unique Item (5 available to be won)

I saw pple arguing that the top 5 gets a lot more points then the mediocre racers so it is easier for them to also win the unique price random prizes.
("Each Reward Point you earn in this race counts as a ticket in a random draw for the uniques")
I was curious so I tried calculating it (a bit roughly) based on the statistics from the last 1h solo, I got the info from http://poestatistics.com/events/last/1.html
ok here we go:

Price rewards breakdown for last 1h solo:

1430 participants:

points for lvl rewards:

players:
o got 10 pt = 0
8 got 7 pt = 56
23 got 6 pt = 138
35 got 5 pt = 175
55 got 4 pt = 220
700 got 3 pt = 2100
400 got 1 pt = 400
200 got no pt

total all players = 3089 pts

Experience reward pts:

(times 6 because 1 of each class)
#1 = 60
#2 = 36
#3 = 30
#4 = 26
#5 = 18
#6-10 = 12
#11-20 = 10

Total for the top 20 players = 192 pts
Total for the top 5 players = 60+36+30+26+18 = 170 pts

Now the top 5 has about 188 pts rewards from lvl bracket rewards and 170 from Exp. rewards
which gives the top 5 a total of 358 pts in the race.

(it is actually a bit more but I did not inculde the 1st clear/1st quest completing reward since that would be to complicated for me)

now 3089 + 192 = 3281 total points rewarded for all players during this race

total points 3821
top 5 points 358

All the nr 1 class racers got 60+56 pt = 116 total from the race
116 / 3281 X 100% = 3,5% ANY nr 1 player wins
358 / 3281 X 100% = 10,9% chance that a Random unique will be awarded to ANY top 5 player

And that is when there would be only -- 1 -- random prize but there are -- 22 -- prizes.
To tired to think how to put that in calculation.

Hope this clarified anything.
Please feel free to quote/edit or point out my mistakes.
it's way past 1:00 AM and I am very tired :)

good racers should get good rewards. thats how competiton works. and its completely fine.
actually no one needs competitions where most of the price pool is given out just for participating or by rng. if you just want rng maybe try a casino.

plz stop that "casual player" complaining since whats called "casual gamer" here in most cases are poeple that want everything without doin something for that. thats not how life works.

greets
Yup racing is a competition, some will take it more seriously, some got more time to practice and will become better, and some will whine because they have a lower chance of getting a prize because they arent good enough, because they dont take it seriously, and because they dont have the time to play races all the time.

And since there is differance in the prizes, no matter how they would change the prize system, it will always benefit the best playersssssssss eat it!

I agree with you, like I said in OP, I was just curious what the statistics were.
I never said I didn't like the current system.

It is fine as it is, the calculations show that the casual whiners should have nothing to whine about because the percentage of winning is still very low for the top players.

See you guys in about an 1h :)

Still the fact remains that top players don't need tens of the same uniques from random rewards. I don't mind the higher tier rewards go to the top players. If the race rewards stay the same or follow the tier point rewards as the season progresses(which i doubt) then the lower tier rewards from races should have a higher chance to be given to average players.

Why i think so? Simply because they need a carrot on a stick otherwise there is really no incentive for them to play longer or try harder to get to higher levels. But as it is now i dare say that race rewards go to top 100 players.

Race point distribution is still brutal for average players, it should be easier for them to get to 4 points.

If a dev answers, how much of points did you envison an average player that can't play 24/7 will have at the end of the season? To rephrase the question, what is the highest tier reward that you want the average player to get at the end of the season?

@starball
sry for missunderstanding you.

@pivovar
thats completely trash.

for beeing good in races you must invest time. at least the time for participating. and the best racers should get a reward that is higher than what you get by normal farming. but just the very best. and if you get an item twice (what actually can happen while farming too) you just sell it...

i think if people will get easier access to 3-4 points each race the races become completly senseless. on the one hand side people have then no aims to reach and wont feel satisfied when they finally improve in racing and reach higher points. reward points are just valuable when not everybody can earn them by just joining a race and playin completly bad, having no motivation to get better.

on the other hand side thers another mentally point. a race is a competition. and competitions become competitions when something is about winning. no game in the world, not even games for little children are about not to be the last. stop that loser mentality. no one needs that.

personally i think that with the 1 point reward it is really more than enough done for the so called "casual players". personally i think its far too much. cant get the point why you now want even more...
4 out of 4 races I have crashed.. this time in cavern of anger. At least this time I did not have a rollback..... although no trans dropping was annoying.
