High Ping Sao Paulo gateway WinMTR

I am from Rio de Janeiro, copacabana.

My ISP is "net Virtua".

Since today, my ping on Sao Paulo server has been higher than from texas or washington DC.

What should I do GGG?

This forum is primarily community-driven help, although GGG employees do sometimes visit to help. If you want direct GGG help, just click on the "Contact Support" link at the top of this page to submit a support request.

Your trace route looks good with no dropped packets, but not so good for general latency. You have one hop in the middle that is probably configured to never respond to ping requests (no packets sent back from the pings).

With up to 300ms lag, it may be noticeable. There's one point in Brazil where a hop adds a lot of lag (100ms or more), then it gets worse with hops closer to GGG servers (another 100ms or more).

From your end I don't think there's much you can do. Follow up with GGG directly and report this to them.

It's possible that Brazil is getting more traffic now thanks to the Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro (opening ceremony this week, games next week, more tourists in the area now).

That's the point cipher_nemo is talking about. I've highlighted the average latency, which shows your average jump from 18ms to 128ms.

From there on things are pretty bad. So either there is a problem with that link, or the 2nd node I listed above. It could be load related as suggested. You could try contacting your ISP, but there may be nothing they can do if many of the routes leading to the gateway are overloaded.

I contacted GGG and linked this thread.

The thing is that Texas and Washignton DC ping is below 150ms. While Sao Paulo which is less than 400km from where I am it has huge ping of 250ms.

I don't think this is your local problem. Here is a quote of an analogy that might help explain the situation:

At that point of your route, you see latency spike up dramatically, and it never recovers. It looks like you are hitting a node / link that is either overloaded or malfunctioning. Because the route to the other gateways would be routed differently, you probably avoid that node entirely.

It's like trying to drive to the store to get food. Everything is fine at the store, but you are driving through road works when trying to get there. When connecting to the other gateways, it's like a longer drive, but there is no road work in between. So you still get there faster.

I suck at analogies. Sorry.

You could try contacting your ISP, but if there is no clean routes to the gateway, they may not be able to do anything about it.

Try contacting your ISP and see what they have to offer for help. Hopefully, they can offer an alternative route.

You don't seem to have packet loss or problems outside the spikes happening at the node I highlighted.

Unfortunately, since the problem happens before GGG / Softlayer has a chance to handle your data. So, I'm guessing there is little they can do to help. They have what you want, but you aren't able to get to it. Bummer.

Here is the same, last week i got about 70ms but after friday the ms ballooned to 400ms...
So, still the same here is the winmtr from Brasília

As you can see the HOP is giving more than 100ms of latency is someone in GGG doing something about this?!?!
so will there be any kinda help from some1 responsible from ggg? or should we keep on trying to find solutions by ourselves?
Been throuhg the same thing, not only me but my friend from Brazil also... This is no ISP problem , its the server gateway issue.... Where's GGG report on it???

And btw , its no 30 ~130 MS , it's friggin 1800 spike and 1 minute not loading... Game is completly unplayable
