SSF shaper/elder

Map drops are random. However, can we make some generalizations on the time needed to participate in these fights?

Should a "casual" player expect to reach these bosses by the end of a league?

Is a "no life" player able to "farm" these bosses?

Please remember, NO TRADING.

Don't play a SSF with such questions, it is not for you.
Getting to Shaper SSF in Harbinger was relatively easy because of the orbs that could be used to fill in the Atlas and get to the guardians. Beating the Shaper SSF depends on luck, skill, and proper planning. The fact that I've been able to take plenty of shots at Shaper with my DP Zerker suggests that a casual should be able to get there with the right build. Too bad I haven't gotten good enough to kill him yet.
I didn't do SSF in Harb however without trading maps, was able to get to the shaper. I don't recall if I used many or any harb orbs in the process. I definitely think I was beyond casual in terms of playtime, however.

Elder however, it supposedly easier to get to at an earlier level. Having the specific maps to do the influenced maps may be tricky. Whether or not for casual play this will be possible is not known until the patch is out.

I mean...I'm not a fan of this games trade-centric design and how everything's weighted to be a sea of garbage but, why do it to your self? You're just knee capping your self playing SSF. If you want to see and do everything, if anything SSF is a BAD way to do it, not a good way. I don't get it.

Getting to Shaper SSF is easy. The hard part is before that when you decide what build to play. Some builds can easily handle high level content. Others stumble when they hit red maps.

If you don't want to create your own build, just check the forums for builds that farm Shaper and aren't focused around specific uniques. Something like Blade Flurry or Barrage scales really well in SSF. If you do want to create your own build, understand that it may prevent you from doing all the top level content this league.
well, if you are a super filthy casual like me, probably need more luck to reach shaper. Map drop are terrible and my "super casualness" , i do take a break between 1 -2 month before continue playing again. Probably end of next year, I may meet and drink tea with shaper.
I played SSF for both Legacy and Harbinger, and remember quite vividly how long it took to complete the atlas in Legacy, which Abyss will be akin to for the atlas. Moreover getting Guardian maps to drop was sometimes like pulling teeth.

If you are not well versed in crafting or completing your atlas you may want to consider not going SSF. Whatever you decide, goodluck and maybe we'll see you in 773 :).

Probably because (s)he does not want to dwell in the misery of POE trading.
