Will we ever get a long cutthroat league/mode? And what happened to paid custom leagues?

Every cutthroat I've been in was dead by day 2. Kill squads roaming, searching for that one newbie that has not learned the few ways to stay safe in Cutthroat (for instance, never enter an area unless it is maxed out with friendly party members, etc.).

It's not a mode that survives long.

The paid leagues were always a pipe dream in my opinion. I think the cost of such leagues would be daunting, especially if they had custom mods that were requested and required development/testing/balancing outside of the core game.
Thanks for all the fish!
The technology behind something of this kind exists easily: learn to use docker and wrap PoE gameplay service(s) into a docker, audit it, then sign contracts for deploying new "servers" dynamically with container providers, cash shop already exists so it has to be extended, also access to servers is something trivial(a bit of AOP). But complexity is a thing and I'm unsure if GGG team even has the skillset or the company has to budget to move on that.

Beeing a bit creative with assets management, I would assume that you could also use custom content. PoE is a mature game now, it evolved multiple times during versions, and I bet the source is kind of clean enough to imagine crazy evolutions like this.

Oh god, I should do architect...

I would forget about paid leagues and rather start asking for guild hosted events. It would be awesome as hell if a guild could host its own events and decide the length and the rules. Of course, these events would have to be voided, but it would be very fun nonetheless.

Cutthroat isn't really my cup of tea.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Don't really care about cutthroat, but it would be nice to be able to pay for a custom league. Players in my guild tend to be very specific on what they want in a league.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
I'm not sure where people got the idea that there would ever be paid custom leagues. So far as I know, this was never promised.
Censored.
That was before my time so even I can't remember what I never knew. I have seen posts talking about this before and now I guess I know that it didn't just come out of someone's ass.
Censored.
