Question about totems and minions - Help!?

This game is so extremely confusing. Hope somebody can clarify this to me:

If I use a Spell Totem Support + Summon Raging Spirits, I have three questions:

- Will passives that increase totem damage affect the Raging Spirits? This is confusing to me, since the damage is dealt by the minions, and not by the totems directly.

- Will passives that increase minion damage affect the Raging Spirits if they are summoned by a totem?

- Which type of damage do the Raging Spirits deal? I read on a wiki that they deal 50% fire and 50% physical. Why isn't this listed on the skill in that case? Does this mean that passives that increase physical and fire damage both affect this skill, even if a totem summons them?

This is my main issue with this game. You need to literally investigate and become an expert on the game before you can even start playing.

No. If it doesnt say minion, it doesnt support minions.
Thats true in like 99% of all scenarios

SRS are melee minions and scale off phys dmg which than gets converted to fire dmg at a 50% rate.
So you want to link gems like melee physical, because it will scale the phys portion before the conversion and thus also the fire portion of the total dmg output.
If you were using gems like elemental focus instead, you´d only scale the fire portion after the conversion.


Dmg nodes on the tree wont do anything, unless its minion dmg nodes.
Fire or phys dmg nodes wont scale SRS at all.
The only way to improve the dmg output besides minion nodes would be auras (like hatred, haste or anger), curses (like vulnerability or ele weakness) and elemental equilibrium (EE) keystone.

Example:
If you were running hatred aura (cold dmg scaling of phys dmg), your SRS would deal phys, fire and cold dmg. So you would want to use a lightning spell to trigger EE (minions cannot trigger EE) and you could also link curse on hit plus a curse to this spell. That way you would debuff the enemies cold and fire res (EE) and curse him as well.
Thats a very popular and strong combo for SRS.
