Is it normal for Drox to never drop shield?

Just curious if this is supposed to happen, where Drox keeps his shield up for the rest of the encounter.

" I believe this is dependent on the awakening level of the encounter. At around 4 or 5 I think he changes to having the shield for the entirety of stage 3. I’m not positive though.
