Support gems stopped working (Broken link)

I first noticed this when I turned level 27 and gave myself the passive skill "Deadly Precision", though it may have done this earlier.
The gem now does nothing but fill a socket. No visible bonuses apply.
I have the Added Fire Damage gem and Heavy Strike gem in my longsword and I use Heavy Strike as my primary attack.

I also just tested my other support gem in another weapon and that does nothing as well.

Am I missing something that disabled the use of the gem or am I right in reporting it as a bug?

Either way, I'm kind of stuck right now because of the way I built my character :(

I have been using my sword for a long time and found that it stopped working because the link between the two sockets broke randomly.

Have the same problem, had a bow with 3 green slots (two interlinked) used an Orb of fusing to link the 3rd - worked for a couple of levels.
Leveled up and realized my skill's ain't working anymore.

Can I get back my orb of fusing ? ^^

I doubt it broke randomly. It was probably never there, unless you used a fusing orb on it.

I highlighted the Orb of fusing part.

So still noone knows what the reason for it's disappearance might be ?

But that was unfortunately not the problem.

I had an Item with three sockets, two of those had links.
I wanted an Item with three links, so I used my orb of fusing, I was lucky and got the desired result at first try.

I used the Item several times and it worked until suddenly it stopped (I know it worked for I tested it and I checked the little symbol for the skill's and both had the sign that shows if the skill is linked to a passiv skill gem)

When I realized that it isn't working anymore I checked the symbol and the sign was gone.
I than checked the Item and the link symbol was still there but seemed somewhat "broken".

And since I did not find anything about it on the forum I wanted to know if this orb of fusing created links will break after a time or what might be the reason for that.

So the question is.

Why did a formerly working link stop working ?

the additional information is, that the item was created with the help of an orb of fusing, because I thought that might be important in this situation.

How ever the facts are
1. The link was working fine.
2. It stopped working.

Core question - Why did it stop ?

Ps.: sorry for the long text but I wanted to make sure the question was understood since so far I got two answers that did not put into account that the link had been working before

pps.: I really love this game, it's great that's why I reported this "bug" (?) So far I am wondering if I missed something, because if it is a bug how come only two reported it so far?
