I'm needing assistance as to what to update as to my Passives. do I need to update Gear?

Generally speaking your gear is lacking +life & resists. Your shield is decent, helm is a good one to get started as well. Jewelry & gloves could get more life & resists.

Your weapon is also not great, you want something with much higher damage. You also just have a 4L chest. Getting a 5 or 6L will help damage a lot. I dont know the specifics of what you're playing with spectral throw, so it's hard to say what support gems you need.

While I'm all for experimenting and trying your own thing, have a look around for some spectral shield guides for ideas.
