Looking for advice on lightning trap build

so, i havent been looking at updates for quite a while (last time i played was probably 4 seasons ago) and i was thinking of building a lightning trap, but also read that saboteur is kinda dead onthat matter

so i was wondering, do you think its better to try it with assassin or change to another char totally (like elementalist)?
