Global chat = Micro-stutters
I noticed that the CPU spikes when a chat entry happens.
I was fighting mobs and roaming the map when I was really annoyed by the micro-stutters happening way too often. Went to the options and noticed the CPU spiked a lot in the graph. You can see that each entry spikes the CPU usage. If it is crazy in chat, you will see freezes even. Muting/turning off global will not work. It seems the entries still cause the user stutters. The best solution is jump to another chat channel with minimal or no chat traffic. Here is how 1. open chat 2. R click global tab 3. within the chat entry change the number to a higher number. Mid double digits work for me. 4. Press Enter There you go. No routine CPU spikes and no stutters. I cannot say this solves all stutters or freezes. Just the ones related to chat. What I find crazy is how chat entries spike the CPU that much. Último bump em 17 de fev de 2025 09:44:45

i confirm that happens when chat contain alot of links, hello trade chat, fast way to fix is to clear chat history by simply going to char screen and back to game, and jump into some dead chats aka /trade xxx and /global xxx. Usually 3 digit chats are relatively dead.

You don't need to go out to char screen. Just use /clear or /cls in the chat and it will clear every chat.

if ive been in the game for about an hour, every single line of text that pops in chat peaks CPU time and frame time.
each line of text eats ~1 fps temporarily. single micro stutter every line. i tried deleting client.txt in case the file was too big but same thing... a line of text shouldnt be this heavy. what's up with that lol *it doesnt do it if i just loaded up the game.. takes about an hour to start happening. **doesnt have to be a chatter, pressing weapon swap without weapon swap available sends a line in chat and it does it too. *** /cls does fix it until it starts again about an hour later. Persists, and this is not limited to only global chat but also trade chat, basically any new messages sent by other players causes these stutters consistently. Just turning off "Show Global Chat" or "Show Trade Chat", has no effect, it only hides the chat for me, but players messages still pass through and causes the same stutters.
Only reliable suggestion is to manually go to a dead channel, for example /global 999, or /trade 999 fixes the stutters completely as there are no players in these channels and hence no messages. This is extremely bad, as it forces players away from social interaction, and if they aren't aware of this, it causes an underwhelming combat experience with the stutters. Worse is, this probably also occurs with other chats like whispers, parties, and guild chat. |
