controller targeting with toxic growth is bugged

when using toxic growth on controller, instead of firing the spores around a targeted area, it fires the spores erratically all over the screen. This doesn't happen as often on mouse/keyboard. I've tried reducing the target area with Concentrated effect skill gem, but it doesn't work. Also it seems to happen more when i am near the targeted enemy.
