Minion Trial Issue

I am completing my third ascendancy and while traversing through the trials on rooms that contain the fire lines you must avoid, I am very careful to not touch them with my character however my minions begin taking fire damage and it somehow transfers to me and tanks my honor. I have used 3 tokens today and died the same way, I also tried despawning my arsonist and just using skeletal warriors but had the same issue on a lesser scale.
