Rare Terracotta Fanatics Drop Nothing when they Explode

Rare Terracotta Fanatics drop nothing when they explode. Found one in an essence, freed it, when straight to exploding and dropped nothing. Pretty sure it wasn't the case that I killed it and it dropped nothing as my Golden Charm didn't trigger. I.e. I didn't kill it, it killed itself.

Not sure if this is intentional or we're expected to one-button instagib rares.
