Buggy self-damage Uniques

The Tooltip of Scold's Bridle Jade Tiara states

"Take 80% of Mana Costs you pay for Skills as Physical Damage"
and self damage works with all talismans if i put on painters gloves or have catalysis skilled.

If I do it with fireflower though, it does not.

I wanna self trigger stuff like breath of the mountains, beiras anguish or valako's roar but that mechanic doesn't seem to work with Fireflower
