The Viridian Wildowood Unique map softlock?

Was afk for 1 min on map load in. Came back to find myself dead with the book of unique knowledge dropped on my feet. Could pick it up and use it. Then when I moved to the edges of the screeen, I dodged into the darkness and then it put me into a seperate area with a checkpoint and a portal to hideout. No where to go other than this room.
