What's the point of building into CC?

I'm really trying to figure this out, like really wrap my head around it..

I freeze an enemy. The rare, completely frozen, still does it's molten shell ability and then shroud walks to teleport directly on top of me, still frozen, killing me.


What's the point of the CC at this point, to stop their auto attacks?
