GGG why are trials like this?

These trials are so ridiculously toxic. I hate them so much. Really the only thing in PoE2 I hate. But beyond the simple displeasure of the whole system why is everything about it so obtuse?

After getting almost to the end of the 4th trial of the suckymah I lost all honor by making one mistake. So that was a huge waste of time. So I decided to try trial of chaos instead. I get all the way through 10 trials. I think I'm done. Nope. There is *another* boss. Fine. Let me kill that now. Click on the door. It takes my "fate" and gives a message that I'm "missing the correct fate". Huh?

So after having to google wtf was happening I learn that you need to run the trial multiple times to get *THREE* different "fates"? Or to somehow have known to buy them ahead of time? That would be asinine enough but it also ate my one fate so now that one is gone, too. So I just did that entire 10 trials for absolutely nothing.

It would be one thing if that was the way it was but it was somehow clear that was how it works but to spend all this time FOR NOTHING when I didn't even lose the trials is pretty infuriating. Not sure if this is supposed to be some sort of dev humor or what. Haha. So hilarious to waste people's time I guess.

Trials are indeed vomit, but one suggestion that used to woork in 0.1 not sure maybe still works: as you reach the door where you put fates you can teleport out, buy missing fates and teleport back in and you end up near the same door where you can put the fates.

I wish there was other option to get 4th ascendency... maybe taking out three Citadels or something like that?

He he he thats was also me, I did exactly the same 10 levels to encounter in the end a door which requires 3 sort of keys, you can't buy it remotely and have to exit->buy-> do all 10 levels again. Huge waste of time? YES.
I rather prefer POE1 ascendancy not sure why but was faster for sure. Chaos is the best and easier vs Sekhemas any time, that Honor which is not very clear for new players if you start losing honor then its over and you'll get killed in full hp/es and then wondering what was happened? Need reworking, less floors/trials for something that when once is done is done

Lab was also toxic. GGG didn't care and still forcing players to do these.

I prefer every ascendancy is a different trial and not rehashing Sekhema or Chaos. I think Sekhema and Chaos are fine for first and second ascendancy. The third and fourth should be equally be the same but different.

Maybe 4th trial is beat a map of this level etc.

The trials should be testing us for things we would need in progressing content or endgame. Why does one need to master traps? Is there a map where that is used?

Never thought I'd say "I miss lab". Compared to the mess we have now, at least lab was fairly straightforward.

I think the plan is to have 3 trials in campaing, and for fourth you choose whichever one you prefer for the hardest version of it.

Sekhema in Act 2
Chaos in Act 3
TriaL of the Ancestors in Act 4
Choose your poison in endgame

This way we'd be similar to POE 1; having 6 Ascendancy points before hitting maps.
Even though I loath the current trials, the campaign versions are forgiving enough (if you over-level a bit) to not make you smash your keyboard. But getting those last 2 points will make you rage for sure.

A whole area where you get nothing but shittier.
Rerun the same crap content every time.
Need to do it over and over as it gets more tedious.
Uses a mechanic that is useless outside of its niche zone.
Requires you run this crap several times to collect the the otherwise useless items required to complete the zone.

They don't feel good to complete.
Perhaps good like in the way stepping out of a stinky swamp might feel.

If this is the plan, I think I am ok with this. I can deal with Sekhema up to the Scorpion boss, so I can used that for my final 4th ascendancy while doing the other 3 organically.

Well, I just hope they don't change it so that for the final 4th you have to do the equivalent of the current Sekhema. If yes, then there is nothing gained at least for me.
