Armour Applying To Lightning Damage

If anyone know for clarification. Does the armour defending against elemental damage stack with elemental resistances or do they count as the same stat? If they do stack does anyone know how the math is done? IE Armour > Elemental Resist.

They definitely both apply not exactly sure of defense order though. Things that negate damage apply first so figure immunity/evasion/flat dmg reduction. I would think armor comes before resists and than not sure about where deflection would fit but ES would be last.
