Constant crashes: Black screen, grinding gears, floating embers

I am having the same technical issues as in 0.3 but far worse. The game's visuals will freeze and I'll get the screen with gears, a black background, and embers floating in the background. It will stay locked for around 30-60 seconds and then unlock. After it unlocks I can move but there is no visual, I've got the black background, gears and embers. Usually I have to exit to character selection to clear the problem.

In addition, it is taking over a minute to load clearfell, was nothing like that in 0.3
