Poe 2 crashes my pc since 0.4.0 update
|
Since this new season, the game just randomly crashes my PC and sends it to boot up again. I stress tested all my parts with OCCT and as far as I can tell, it has nothing to do with my parts (this also never happened playing any other game). It happened while in combat, while sitting in the hideout and looking at support gems, basically any time no matter what. Sometimes it happens an hour into playing, sometimes it happens about 10 minutes after starting up the game. Steam says the integrity of the files are intact and I tried reinstalling, switching to DirectX11/Vulkan(and other in-game settings), updating drivers, and clearing shader cache nothing helped.(I reinstalled the game on the same drive it was before i will also try installing it on another drive today) Any help or tips on what I can still try to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, and have a nice day. Último bump em 19 de dez. de 2025 00:37:58

I'm having the same issue. In my case it seems that it helped to turn off NVIDIA DLSS upscaling and change it back to the default NIS
UPDATE: Actually, no. It lasted longer than with DLSS, but still crashed. After the crash I can't see the NVIDIA video and the laptop switches to the second one. Dell G16 laptop Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 The issue was on both studio and game drivers., latest versions (591.44) Última edição por Albibek#3624 em 17 de dez. de 2025 23:25:27

So for everyone still struggling with this issue, I might have a fix. I only played a few hours, so it might just have been luck that I didn't crash, but it might be worth a try for you. I don't know if I'm allowed to name a specific program on here, (I'm sure you can find a program by googling it) but I found one that allows you to disable SMT (Simultaneous Multithreading) for specific programs, and turning it off for PoE 2 seems to have fixed the crashes for me. This is not the same as disabling engine multithreading in the in-game options, so you will need a program for it, or you can turn it off in your bios but I wouldn't recommend that, as a program will allow you to just disable it for PoE 2 specifically. This might end up lowering your performance by quite a bit, but hey at least you get to play the game. If someone can let me know if I'm allowed to name the program, I will do so.

SMT disable might be the fix here.
Ill give it a longer test later today but seems to drop my CPU use by 50% or more during game. Might be the win. IDGAF about saying the program I used process lasso |

For me disabling Hyper Threading didn't help. Tried both process lasso and disabling in BIOS, tried disabling engine multithreading with HT disabled as well.
Also updated the NVIDIA driver to the most recent 591.59. All was tried on the latest 0.4.0c after Hotfix 3 |
