Snipe with perfect timing does not consume freeze on ice crystals

Given that I have frost wall socketed in my skills and that I have casted frost walls in the area, using Snipe released with perfect timing should allow snipe to destroy the crystals and trigger the icy blast of snipe. This is because the ice crystal description says that skills which consume freeze will instantly shatter the ice crystals.
