Vaal Temple Bug

I can't complete events on the maps. I kill everything, including bosses that pop out and it won't finish. I go to the temple and all but 1 crystal is lit up. The one nearest the door is dark and has spirits flying out and I can't interact with the altar. This is severely hindering my ability to upgrade my gear. It's been happening since act 3, I'm in act 4 now. I thought maybe it was just a fluke, but it's happened 5 times now and my temple itself is broken. Tried loading a new instance and that did nothing. I also can't interact with the door. If I had to guess, it might have to do with me not ending the previous temple.

Just realized one more thing, I got that token or whatever it is that gives me 6 more room things to place. idk much about it. Theyre the badge things you get.

I think I figured out the issue. If you progress too far ahead of your temple, the higher level ones don't do anything. I went back to act 3 drowned ruins or whatever and it activated. This needs to be made more clear.
