Why does Elemental Focus support Galvanic Field?

Elemental Focus:
Supports any skill that hits or burns enemies, or inflicts elemental ailments.

Galvanic Field itself is a buff, which doesn't hit or burn enemies, nor inflicts elemental ailments. The buff has an effect that creates a field. That field's description does not use the words "hit" or "burn", and explicitly cannot inflict elemental ailments (shock). The buff also grants a +20% chance to shock. But the buff isn't inflicting the shock, just increasing our chance to shock via other means.

So I'm confused. I'm glad that it works, but I don't understand why it does.

I guess it's because Galvanic field "Deals XX to YY Lightning Damage"? That counts as "hit"? Hrm... I guess that's why Added Lightning also supports it. Y'know... for a game that is very word-specific, this aspect is weak....

The guide is now updated for 3.19! Sorry for being so late with this, I was going back and forth between two different setups and then didn't end up actually using them, and instead just improved the 3.18 setup that I've had lots of success with.

If I have time, I'll record a video tomorrow to go over the PoB and what you can expect. Galvanic Field might need some adjustments depending on how it performs in this build, I'll implement those asap after being able to test it.

quick question : currently i have motlen shell tied to my movement, as i dont have the socket setup to use CWDT. seems to be working good as is, is there a reason i should not keep it this way, and use CWDT instead?
Hello guys, I'd like to ask a question. How exactly does Vaal Arc work with EO? Let's say I use VA on Legion, do I have to crit on 1st enemy or not? Or if I crit on 10th hit, will all remaining hits have bonus from EO?

Sometimes my dmg is lacking on Vaal Arc so I am trying to figure out why.

Is there any update on the use of Galvanic Field? I thought it was meant to be another source of damage for single target but so far I feel it barely tickles, don't know if I'm missing something. Should just use orb of storms instead I think.

I was thinking the same as it seemed to do barely anything. Maybe not the right level gem yet? No idea.

I don't have all the gems I need yet so with plenty of free sockets I have been using orb of storms as well. Lots of keyboard work but the trifecta of orb of storms, galvanic, and conductivity is pretty cool so far.
Is it possible to use this setup without elemental overload and just gear up crit?

I think gem setup can be different too, some crit multi additive gem maybe controlled destruction...
my report thus far into kalandra

this is working amazing. i'm not far into maps, a few t6-7's complete. but everything melts. i'm not suffering many of the same issues others are with AN mods, bosses melt, everything melts. some fragility to be sure, but this is expected with an elementalist. and not nearly as much as i expected.

i found a divine in a5, was insane. immediately converted to chaos, bought tabula. so my QoL was pretty good early. not a typical result for sure. but i am pretty sure without that, arc on a 4-link would still be nuts. i just replaced my mid-act helm and i'm running easily identifiable trash wands. haven't swapped to agnerod yet because i want to just buy the 5/6-link and i also don't have socket space yet to make room for other things and 6-link arc and OoS. 71/75/75/-44 resistances currently.

i'm pretty sure that in the currency starved market of this league, this is a perfect build to run. do i think i can scale to being my permanent league build? possibly. there are huge upgrades i still need. i definitely think t14+ is viable. uber elder and sirus, ehhh. we will see.

i intend to move to an ed trickster for real endgame, or say forget it for this league and go experiment with minions, as bad a state as they are in. i'm pretty sure survivability is going to become a huge factor if/when i get to red maps and ultimate bosses.

for now, however, perfect character for farming some essences, filling out the atlas, and not overly worrying about gear. i would suggest considering lightning pen support on your arc 4-link over something else. pretty huge for chunking away single targets. also using a sulphur flask for when you can turret.

also of note, i've yet to find socket space for galvanic whatsitcalled. so melting ST should be even easier than i suggest.

happy hunting and thank you enki for keeping this up to date! was fun when i mentioned it in chat and a few folks were surprised to hear it. there's always so much hype around meta builds and theorycrafting that sometimes, you just have to look to what is tried and true, especially when thinking strictly in league start fashion.
