[3.x - Discontinued for now] Burning Spectres - Torch the Atlas - HC Shaper, Elder, Uber Atziri

Hey, I'm trying out this build, and I have tukohamas shield, I used it with necromantic aegis, I was under the impression the vanguards would each be able to summon 2 totems with it, however, they still summon only 1 totem each.

I knew it wouldn't be very fast but I'm surprised how bad the clear is, even with brightbeak. I understand why people use golems. What can I do to improve it without losing too much dps?

For clear speed you really need to invest in golems or get an elder helmet with minion damage/burning damage and put your TV there and put SG in your chest and then run 2/2 or something like that.

Use brightbeak, I leveled with advancing fortress, switched to brightbeak, tried scourge briefly (too slow and the wolves don't spawn on specters that hit) went back to brightbeak never going to look back. The speed is crazy.

Oh yeah I killed Shaper with 2 SG and 2 canibals no specter died just the golem. Damage was pretty good. My first successful one ever so you know I suck at it.

IMO if I can use brightbeak I would rather use Scourge instead. In this build our characters are the weakest link in DPS department, in other words, our damage/attack speed dont matter.

Now we compare benefits from them. With scourge you get around 100+% minion dps, which is huge considering we rely 100% on minion dps.

With Advancing fortress you get 15% block chance and 8% spell block(if you have 50% block apply to spell), getting max block is the core mechanic of this build. Not only that, it provides innate Fortify support which further reduce damage taken by whopping 20% with no gem slot cost.

With Brightbeak you get 2 resistances which we already easily capped, faster attack speed which doesn't matter much because we always need to wait for minions to clear.

Even after you reached max block and fortify slot I still found many other options better than Brightbeak, like Mon'tregul's Grasp which can give us great meat shield with ok dps.

You don't get it. Use brightbeak on switch weapon slot, and switch back when you need actual defense/offense.
I have brightbeak+prismatic eclipse combo on my weapon switch, and i can't be happier.

The only issue is - you shouldn't use anything that have to be active on weapon slots (like aura, or zombies, they will die after switching)

Well the theory is good an all but practice beats it. Attack speed matters crazy amounts for shield charge. Shield charge gets you into the fray and out of it. Once you learn to use it you overshoot enemy packs slightly your specters teleport to you stuff dies on the way. I know the temptation is to play it like a bow character and stay in the back but that is not needed and will slow you down a looot. Only bosses need care and for them fast shield charge has other benefits, getting out of the way very very fast.

Yes scourge is more damage but unless you party I tell you you don't need it. I killed shaper with brigtbeak. Advancing fortress I agree will let you have max block all the time without a flask but I have +1 curse Anvil so that helps a bit with block and I bit the bullet and bought Rumis and while I hate flasks it's good for when it counts. As for the gem cost since I don't use link expensive golems or specters with other links I have more than enough gem slots.

Zombies will die in shaper guardians and shaper. You don't need more tanking on a build that is a super tank itself. In fact by the nature of bone offeirng that heals you on every hit and how the game works (very big hits usually are slow, while low damage hits can come very fast) putting more things between you and your bone offering will potentially leave you without max health when it coutns. It's a stretch I know but I've played zombies/srs hybrid last league and zombies die montregul or no montregul.

I used Brightbeak on alternate weapon for the longest time but one day you will forget to switch and then you die because you expect max block where there isn't max block. Or you get stunned and can't switch to brightbeak to dodge a slow powerful. Hit. So I put it on main weapon switch.

tl.dr. Brightbeak is best weapon in slot.

What setup do you use when you have 4 specters? 3 Vanguards, 1 Wicker... 2 Wicker, 2 Vanguards or what combination?

Is this info correct?

Tukohama's Vanguard has 40/0/0 resistances
Wicker Man has 20/20/20 resistances

With Herd of the Flock (+16% to all);
Raise Spectre (another +30% to all)
Two Minion All Res Jewels (+20% to all total)
my minions have Capped Resistance, or is the resistance https://github.com/Mattc33/Necronomicon/blob/master/UndeadLibrary.md wrong?

What is the best 5L with capped resistances? do i need to overcap my minions for curses?
Dear All,

Have been playing this build from this league. So far so good. It is a build that is both safe and with high DPS. Have done some Tier 15 maps and Phoenix, usually can finish the bosses in about 1 min give or take. For now, I just wonder what can I further improve my gears:

I also got some of these gears, but end up with using the upper ones.

I have 6700+ life, 2300+ mana, and ~800 ES (MoM). I personally feel the Scourge, though has higher damage, but is less safer than the Advancing Fortress, the latter gives me +15% block and +7.5% spell block. I am running 4TVs + 3FGs + Temporal Chain (max) + clarity (level 1, for minimum mana reservation of 34 mana and commander of darkness) + self cast Flammability, with which, I feel the damage is ok, and the speed is also satisfiable. I was using arctic armor, but later switched to Temporal Chian, because high level Temporal Chain seems safer. I haven't done Shaper yet, but that is my goal for this league, never done it before (which is a shame).

My main questions for my gears:
1. I feel my shied can have some upgrades. But those two I have (the spell block and mana recovery ones), do not benefit me much, since I have a +1 curse Lazhwar. Instead, I feel the >200 life Lioneye's Remorse gives is better. So, I am not quite sure what to do there.

2. Someone in this thread commended Belly of the Beast instead of Vis Mortis. Haven't try it yet, but will it feel better, I think for safety, yes, for clear speed, not sure?

3. With the current setup, for Tier 15 boss fights, the Spectre, FG and AG all survived, mostly full life. For Phoenix, all FGs died and the AG was down to less than half life, the spectres were generally ok. I am afraid, for Shaper, the FG and AG will die. So I wonder for Shaper, should I just use Skullhead and not FG? Beside, I can swap those FG jewels for life/minion life/minion damage/resist jewels.

In general, I am quite happy with this build.

Thanks,

I just started a new char and I intend to do some deviation from this build.

What I intend to do is this:

Low Life using Shavrone Armour and invest into auras that way I can use: Discipline+Vitality+Purities

Using Bones of Ullr and Midnight Bargain to get 4 Specters.

Ultimate goal is to get a corupted Midnight Bargain with curse on hit so I could double curse on hit.

Bone Offering + Vitality + Purities will be enough to keep me and my minions alive in 95%+ of the hardest fights.

Any ideas/thoughts/suggestions to make this kind of build variation more viable ?

I already have 5l shavrone and presence of chayula.
Long Live the Templars !!!!
I switched my specters in order to get Flame Sentinel, just changed thegems, GMP and Spell Echo and maps are feeling better!!! I like this flexibility. I'll go Commander of Darkness because i use Clarity.
Currently running the build with TVs and farming Shaper, but I pretty consistently lose spectres during Zana's ball phase.

Is there anyway to prevent them dying here? Guardian dies also, but I just stopped using him on this fight.

Thanks,

You should have no problems with Shaper. I've killed him with significantly worse gear than you are running. Most of the fight isn't about facetanking him, it's about positioning and knowing how to control your minions with desecrate, convocation, and your movement skills.

Belly is surely better for surviveability, however, Vis is just fine. I've died - again, with worse gear than yours - a grand total of twice this league, once vs traps in uber lab, and once vs some map boss who I'm pretty sure hits with chaos degen, and me out of life flasks.

Losing the flame golems on Shaper is expected. Doesn't matter, they don't do a lot of single target damage anyway, so no real loss. Plus they are easy to resummon. Losing the AG is a pain in the ass. I keep mine alive by running him with minion life / empower 3+ / fortify in a +2 minion gems helm. And being careful with desecrate, convocation, and movement skills. Bottom line is, if you're going to farm shaper - and I suggest doing just that to get used to the mechanics of the fight - you'll lose your AG a few times until you figure it out. That's why we don't use a lot of expensive gear on the AG.
