This map didn't give me any maps I'm upset.

Consistency gets boring. It's the bad times that make the good times feel so good. Would you play a slot machine that gave you 95 cents on your dollar every pull? Nope. But still people do that 24/7 by the thousands because the results are inconsistent.

Sadly, doens't work that way for me, Shags. There are far more 'bad times' than 'good times' in PoE that when those supposed 'good times' happen, they bring no joy. And the slot machine thing you're using isn't even what I was getting at when I said what I said, although I probably worded it not as well as I could have. The inconsistency also comes with the fact that playing more risky, more dangerous stuff doesn't reward me any better than playing something far, far less risky. In simpler terms to understand...the risk vs. reward factor is totally off and has been for a long time.

And for the record...most people play slot machines because of the chance of hitting those big jackpots, not for 'consistency'. When it boils down to maps...breaking even, or even just getting a -slight- return on your investment/time on content that shouldn't be so badly gated like it is. Nor should it have such wild swings in RNG that you can have such a bad streak you dry up the content that you know you can run and have built your character to run, and instead are forced to either buy your way back up to it, or go down to easier content and hope the RNG swings back into your favor and you can get back up to where you were.

If we were talking about items used to build characters, then that is fine and RNG can swing one way or another, but it should not swing as it does for maps.
Only hope for you is to keep accurate records. What's happened to you is that you've suffered from remembering what you want to remember and forgetting what you want to forget. It's human nature, so don't feel bad about it. But to fight it, you have to keep objective records.

Overall, you'll find that you're getting more from your riskier maps and less from the easy ones.

But you remember the times when things don't go as expected and that biases your conclusions.

Those "big jackpots" are exactly what we mean by inconsistency. You can't separate the two ideas.

You also need to get rid of this idea of "investment". That's utter nonsense in this situation. It's gambling. You don't "invest" $20 to play a hand of blackjack.

this is just another example of the 2000% rarity strongboxes dropping nothing but white and blue items.
I know how you feel. I'm sitting at ONE T11 complete after a lvl 91,90 and soon to be another 90 (80) now. NOTHING drops above t8 for me NOTHING. I can get 5-10 map drops from a t3-7 but nothing in higher maps. Even if I upgrade all my maps all that will drop is t3-7....
Cyas in standard.
Add this and then removed the 2 orbs we need for this from harb but kept the one we didnt need LuL
That first map is EXACTLY why i quit giving a fuck about quant at all..
Its ALL about the pack size. I used to make those insane maps then put 3 sac frags i could have run to make mortal frags instead but instead i wasted them on those insane maps and almost always NEVER pulled a single map out... I actually one time run a map like that (The last one i ever give a fuck about) got nothing and turned around out of spite and a bit of curiosity and run the same map Magic... BLUE!!!

Guess What? Pulled like 4 or 5 maps all but one the same or higher tier... That was the last time i ever give a shit about quant again.. And yes i know RNG, confirmation bias, ect... but ive never had issues sustaining a map pool ever since. I just alc and go T12-13+ always 20% quality before alc, make sure its not too aids of mods, make sure it has 20+ pack size now... (Not sure how i like the new way pack size is figured on maps) Vaal if its T15 for vaal temple chance, and depending on the layout of the map use whatever zana mod that goes best with it. (not using Breach on a fucking Necropolis for example) Thats it thats all i do and never have sustain issues. I just work my pool till i get a good base and work into the next tier. if i run low on a tier im trying to chain ill fall back a tier and build it back up.

Im always running at minimum T12s... Typically i stay around the T12-14 range and save up a shit ton of T15s and chain the shit out of those for shaper sets. Then fall back and do it again. once i level i run the guardians and do all the shaper sets i saved the level before. Thats pretty much my routine every league now when mapping. Then when i reroll its always smooth sailing thats when i actually get to the point i start selling off maps because i normally by the time i running a second and especially 3rd build of the league ive got more than ill ever be able to run.
There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation.
The former is Wisdom, the latter is Fear.

I always do a blue map after a failed +130%qty one. The returns are sexually attractive.

Not everyones playing a slot machine and not everyone can be kept on a hamster wheel, grind encourages some players discourages others thats all.

Apart from my missing 20 or so i've had fairly good luck this league with progression, but i've also been running the rippiest maps i've ever personally run so if I wasn't progressing there would be some issues as I can't crank it up any higher.

I still miss harbinger orbs, I'm yet to run a pier and thats a T10 lol
