My other concern is that +2 minions will essentially greatly inflate the price of summoner chests from people trying to vaal for it.

So if you have +100 cold damage, then the skele gain 150 added cold damage. but most people don't even use flat damage because skeles have high base damage.

Right, but that's because the only source is Ghastly Jewels. They also just nerfed the base damage of all minions, I think (hope) with the intent for flat damage to make up for it.

At highest tier:
Ghastly Jewels ~20-30
Rings ~23-43 (attack)
Wands ~50-90 (spell) or ~100-180 (attack)

So potentially a weapon's flat damage is worth 3-6x Ghastly Jewel mods.

But yeah, as far as crafting difficulty, they said they're improving it, but whether the weighting is such that it's enough to make reasonable items for a reasonable price will determine if this is an issue or not (because you're right, the weighting on convoking wands as it is now is abysmal). Flat damage to spells is currently pretty high weighting on wands, so if the minion version is similar, it might not be too bad to craft.

Of course if they don't add flat damage mods... I think minions will probably end up worse off except for the very high end, which would be sad.

I think a lot of people confused about the skele mod.

skele mod looks like this:

Might be a short time before we know the weightings. Need to wait for poedb. I hope it's not too bad... but if you think about existing gear (convoking and influence helmet), minion gear is not easy to roll for good items.

My worry is we will need 'good' items to be just 'OK'. And good items will be hard to craft. So most people will have weaker builds in the early and middle game. Damage isn't bad for losing, but GGG also nerfed minion survivability. Minions are not players, so they don't move away from damage and die easily. Resummoning them will be annoying.

I was thinking it would be nice if GGG gave us a minion resummon ascendancy (like elementalist) instead of unholy might. It's useful for everyone and makes up for lost dps in a different way.

It's good for temporary minions btw! They can benefit from duration and minion mod.

Could be BiS SRS Body with +2/+2 minion!


or +2/+2 calamity for HoP...

GGG mentioned this in the patchnotes:


So they said that at gem level 20 all minions should have recieved a ~20% dmg nerf. You think this is slapped on top of all other nerfs?

For example, Skeleton Mages recieved a blanket ~25% dmg nerf:


So in total, mages in this case would have recieved a ~45% dmg nerf from the skill gem nerfs alone if we disregard the removal of the 50% more added dmg multiplier. Keep in mind that this totally disregards the nerfs to power and Frenzy Charges so I think we're still looking at MASSIVE dmg nerfs across the board for mages.

I do think the changes with SRS, Phantasm, and Holy relic will make acts a lot less annoying as a minion player. It also helps having availability of minion affix items like weapon early on. I just have a hard time imagining SRS not driving me crazy while mapping.

Relic seems more like mid game? Need the helmet to get 2 of them and need CDR for optimum activation.

Melee SRS should be OK. It's not too bad for mapping. But recasting all the time was annoying so I switched to golems. I made a new experimental build popcorn build though! Less casting and more automatic summoning. Not sure if it survived the patch yet!
