I've started POB theorycraft for ele spectres. I'm just thinking about spectres in 6L body.

There are two options:

1. +1 spectre armour, use awakened pen in links, ele pen mastery

5 spectres
50% ele pen + exposure

I guess about 35% less damage than before because we swap 'more' gem for ele pen. Still problem when we get ele res mod on maps though.


2. fleshcrafter, change curse to sniper/poacher/assassin or punishment

4 spectres like before 3.8 patch, but need chaos res or natural ES

5 to 4 spectres is 20% less damage, but ignore ele res mean ele res mod is free quant mod :) and no more casting brand for EE ("this is a buff")


I'm thinking to make Baranite Preachers first because ball lightning should be really nice for scourge.


Demon Herders seem EXTREMELY strong atm

Yeah, I feel the build does much better with a +2/3 minion gem helm with +1 skellies craft on it. Better health/resists, opportunity for more dex, makes the spectres/animate guardian in the helm more tanky. Also makes it easier to get that 4th spectre from gem lvls.

Actually I put it there for mana efficiency because skele build is constantly summoning. Maw has 25% reduce cost for minion skills. Skele summon 55 -> 39. Flesh offering trigger 102 -> 72.

Don't forget there is self cast + trigger curse. maybe flame dash to get out of trouble. And CWDT + IC needs mana too. If you don't have enough mana, CWDT will proc, but IC won't trigger (skip and wait until next CWDT).

Try without Maw and maybe it will be OK :)

The impresence for the poison spiders is a little expensive. What's the aura setup before I have this item? Do I keep despair aura with mana reserved and drop malevolence or skitterbots?

Also, how well does devouring diadem work with this build instead? It seems like its not that bad of a QoL change to just summon spiders myself.

I'm trying out +1 skeleton limit helmet, to address mana issues I'm not using skitterbots and using just one curse - punishment. TBH, with mages everything dies so quickly so I don't have to use curses outside of boss battles.

As for mages themselves, I found LMP to be a good compromise between damage and AOE.

I am up to 1.5 million DPS with 4 herders and average gear, with no curses, no EE, no conversion. They are phys with 25% gain with fire damage, so all I am running is hatred at the moment which is subpar to what these things could do. I also have a FF in my 6l so if I get Maw and put in another damage gem (I do this swap for bosses) I do about 2 million DPS.

When I get +2 more skill to spectre and get my 5th one, and switch to potentially better auras, curses and what have you, I am 100% sure this can hit 4 million on "decent" gear. I am in SSF so 4 million DPS spectres is nice.

I have no doubt I can push these to 7+ million DPS in another week in SSF.

Also wanted to note they DO NOT DIE. Like, ever....

No they aren't 20-30 million DPS like SO, but that has always been overkill anyway. Right now 1.5 million DPS seems "comfortable" -- when I decide to get serious and min-max them, they are going to be quite impressive.

I'm just really peeved that a few things were nerfed and the whole spectre build community starts crying about how it's the end.... and to roll mages, or carrion golems, or stone, or what have you.

Have you even seen what demon herders do with GMP slotted in them for clear? Scourges MELT instantly, and I have run carrion in the past that did 20 million DPS, and it has absolutely NOTHING on Demon herders when it compares to clear. Herders are not as good as pre SO nerf, but they are imho the best right now.
a league player quit a couple days ago and came to standard and gave me all his gear and items he had at the time. he was this skeleton mage necro. took me 2 days to figure out what went where as he made some adjustments that were off build.

i have to say that i love this build so far and i'm not even comfortable with it yet. killed the Minotaur in about 5 seconds which was a complete shock.

i hit trade and got the helm, armour, and gloves. here's what i'm running...




skill tree is not done as i'm only level 93. the gems in all the gear are what i'm using.

i can run with 4 spectres, 1 host, 2 carnage. suggestion for the 4th?
poe is going down fast. Diablo 4 and Baldur's Gate 3 have no performance issues. play them instead
