This game is so boring to play. (Mini review)
The animations are awful and the whole movement and flow of the game feels like everything is this big rock that slowly rolls around. Plus, the trade system is awful and attracts people that don't know how to barter. Here's your typical trade:
"I want to sell this item." "I would like to buy that item." "Okay, even though I have a secret price in my head I want, I won't tell you it in hopes you are Ms. Cleo." "Here is my offer." "Nope, don't like it. Back to spamming chat for three hours more." Then there is that skill tree which is admirable because I love my talent calculators and there is nothing on that tree that even remotely excites me. 90% of it is an attribute increase or % damage/life point increase. "So hey, how did you spec your Duelist? Oh I got TWENTY more Dexterity than usual! Get hype!" Like it even matters, classes are just aesthetic templates in this game and have nothing really unique beneath the hood. Oh, and they look really ugly. Everything does in this game. POE likes to do the generic, boring, "dark" than a darkness that actually has a theme to it and purpose. I'd take Nintendo fan boys and WoW lore nerds over this wannabe Dark Souls crowd. "Hey, our game is so hardcore that when you die in hardcore you keep your character!" What rubbish. I wonder if the multiplayer still sucks. But the art style compliments the overall experience: drab, dull, and forgettable in every way. Reaper of Souls come sooner, please. This is the ARPG equivalent to sewing. Looks great in your head, then you actually get to doing it and, well... ugh. The graphics are awful. The most important part about ARPGs that many people don't really realize it until they look back is that your character has to stand out among the huge horde of enemies so you know where you are. D1/D2 had the light radius and the camera pretty much focused in on the character, for example, which made it easier to identify where you are on screen. Because POE has drab, muddy graphics, the armour sets look like Hobo Bob going LARPing for the day and makes your character easily blend in to the colours and crowds. But I guess that's where you're expected to go pay for "aesthetic upgrades" so you can look less like a geek on Halloween and actually formidable. Yeah, the community experience is so rich. Believe me, looking at the POE fanbase, I think the community would drive me insane if I was given prolonged exposure. What I like is how there is very little to no economy settled in. People just sell items with a specific want in mind and any other offer made is seen as a lowball. I admit I made an error here: a skill tree would actually make that gigantic web of garbage exciting and not look like the chaotic rubbish it currently does that may provide a visual overwhelming until you realize that you've spent ten levels giving slight DPS boosts to your dual-weapon skills. Exciting. It's like those talents in MMO games that are like, "2% damage increase" but ALL the time! Oh wait, maybe after thirty levels I can now use my HP to cast spells instead of mana or have an extra zombie. Breaking ground here. Oh yes, the classes are so esoteric that us plebeians have no chance of comprehending their depth. Well unfortunately GGG really ruined themselves here, because you either position the classes on a specific part, thus suggesting that there is a path you're expected to take (ruh-roh, illusion of choice?) or you end up with a Marauder that is no different from a Witch. As complex as the kid's pool. The art style has no theme or direction and conveys a poor atmosphere overall. It seems "dark and edgy" for the sake of. Sitting in town all day spamming trade chat for gear = Sweet man Looking through the AH all day for gear = awful game Classes all have access to the exact same gems for utility/main attacks = Sweet man Classes have access to the same attacks and runes unique to their class only = casualfest inferiority/dumbing down Never change, PoE community. Never freakin' change. D3 fans can admit that their game has shortcomings and needs fixing. PoE fans are simply delusional children that probably listen to Children of Bodom when making hypocritical statements about the two games. You're absolutely right mate. But most people are blind to these things.
The only reason most people play is because Diablo 2 was so insanely good, that it makes POE seem like a better game because it incorporates a few elements of it. But yeah, inb4 POE defence league. :) edit: to clarify, I don't mind the graphics of POE being less than stellar. They do the job. And D3 is also quite shit for me. But other than that, yeah, pretty spot on. Vote +1 to change Path of Exile to Path of Nerfs. We hate to say, but ProjectPT was right. Última edição por Hyskoa#4601 em 28 de nov. de 2013 06:17:44

I actually agree with a lot of what you have to say, especially about the graphics and game mechanics but the whole imbalance of your review simply makes it mute. You clearly decided you did not like the game in the least and everything just becomes you just trying to justify a state of mind and not much more. |

I enjoyed the slow descent into madness the OP had as the post went on.
