Necro's pure righteous fire build HC, 90% phy dmg reduction, cheap! (5 seconds piety vid) lvl89

It's not exactly my build. The dex helps us run Grace + we gain a lot of armor that way. Growth and decay for the dmg and the %life.

I found the build here:

Hello, I'm glad you're having fun with the build :)

WRT to the costs of this build I both agree and disagree with it not being "cheap". As I experienced this league, at the beginning the only required piece of gear for the build will be rare to find, which will skyrocket it's price and this is the reason why I agree it not being cheap. Why I disagree is because after some time the shield will be so common that the price will go down a lot. Another reason is because the effectivity return for the price paid is outstanding and gearing the rest of the character is really easy which makes it cheap as you have a lot of options. If, in a few weeks time the price of rise of the phoenix is still that high I will remove "cheap" from the title :)

As for ruby flasks being better you're correct as they provide more healing but, you need damage mitigation to stay alive, otherwise life flasks are better as you need instant life because the mitigation is not enough

Nice idea about vaal cyclone, I was thinking about which vaal gems to use with it and I'm definetly gonna try that one out. Do enemies still attack while you pull them to you? Vaal molten shell is also really nice and goes well with this build for the extra armour and obviusly vaal dd :)

i agree concerning the demand of early league uniques making the prices pretty riduculous. i was considering waiting it out to pay less later, but i was getting impatient with not being able to start my build all the way until level 75. being almost a pure tank with very little damage is no fun unless youre in a big group that has good dps.

about the ruby flasks vs health flasks, what i've found is that the burst potential of a lot of bosses/mobs is not enough to overcome my above average mitigation and sizeable health pool, so i prefer ruby flasks for what translates into superb healing numbers (4.2 seconds of 450+ healing per second is better than any health pot in the game) and the fact that the flask effect lasts the entire duration (health pots only last until your health becomes full). So i'm running 1 topaz with dispel shock, 2 ruby, one with movespeed, one with curse immunity. i have an instahealth pot with dispel freezing and a quartz with movespeed.

About vaal cyclone, what i typically do is: while rounding up mobs, i cast my enduring cry, getting myself up to 7 endurance charges, i then pop my immortal call (linked to inc duration) for 10 seconds of physical immunity right before casting vaal cyclone. i also pop a ruby just in case, to give my self some healing that will take place regardless of how full my health is. i typically take very little damage doing this. i've done this against many different kind of mobs and at least 4-5 different map bosses (colonnade, promenade, tunnel, graveyard), and that one really annoying exile, xandro blooddrinker, who has tons of health regen and ground slam linked to multistrike (i melted him and laughed in his face).

a few other things i do to increase my damage...i have a level 1 arc linked with level 1 chain linked with blood magic to proc elemental equillibrium on everything i come across. i find this to work extremely well solo and in most groups because hardly anyone is doing lightning damage these days anyway. for curses, i use vulnerability solo and with physical damage dealers and ele weakness with casters.

right now i'm at a point where i feel like my damage is more than enough to melt just about anything, and i haven't even gotten those 3 burning damage nodes by the templar tree. so i'm trying to figure out how to optimize my gear for super tankiness. my goal by the end of ambush is to be able to solo the torture chamber boss, the jungle valley boss, and atziri, who looks to mainly do fire damage (maybe this means we're in luck and can be immune to her damage with fire flasks?).

one of the only issues i've had is solo'ing the underground sea boss (the spark totem). For normal totems I just use conversion trap with inc duration until i clear up the mobs around them, but unfortunately I don't do enough damage with incinerate or any other skill to kill that boss in a timely manner.

Leveling up a new build I thought of what I expect will be a very very tanky character but involves a unique for which I need to grind some first :)

So far pretty strong, I've been running with very good physical reduction and 79% capped resistances and around 150 iir since late normal.

Gonna stream some :)

I'm currently 64 with 3k lifein ambush.
I'll switch to rf after i buy the shield and get pof at 17.

I've got some question (over the course of the thread i've seen posted various different builds so its worth asking) is ee worth taking or not?
If i dont take ee i'd be using searing bond and molten shell, with ee that would not be possible.

Also whats the best spell to use for culling/extra damage?
I've seen the thing about vaal cyclone but vaal gems are a bit erratic, what about ek or flameblast?

Good build overall, easy to level and extremely laid back.

Note that SB does not trigger EE. :)

I think it does :\
Are you sure it doesnt?

I tried to take ee while leveling and i noticed that when i used ice nova and then searing bond mobs had resist fire and ice and -light.
Searching around the internet i saw no definite answer in the other direction and the wording is not too clear.

If sb didnt trigger ee then i'd keep using it.
That would make ek the best spell to link to culling.
That would be great.

Hello, EE and curses are by far the best damage boost this build has and to me pretty mandatory. Let's say you can debuff enemies with 90% fire resistance.

- exactly 75% capped fire res mob will go to -15% fire res. Damage increase of 360%
- enemy with 150% fire res will go to 60% fire res. Damage increase of 60%
- enemy with 0% fire will go to -90% fire res. Damage increase of 90%
etc..

As far as I know sb doesn't proc EE unless they changed it recently. And for culling I used incinerate a while back for iir culling but for the damage...we don't need culling :)

Cheers!

I see, what about molten shell?
The added armor is quite useful but the explosion would trigger ee.
I guess it depends on how tanky you want to be, sacrificing damage for tankyness.

I searched around a bit more and it seems sb doesnt indeed proc ee, ill try again later.
Molten shell is a very nice armour boost but two things I hate about it, you have to constantly cast it and it procs EE. We have capped physical reduction anyways, non bosses hits don't hurt much, I would rather pop up the molten shell and/or granite at boss fights. If molten bursts we can proc EE again with our spell

Regarding EE, the relevant point is this: to proc EE you need to HIT. Neither SB nor RF actually hit.
