This is not a beginner friendly build.

Without very, very expensive gears, you won't do any damage. And won't tank that much either.

Hello Mortezzah :)

First of all, thks a lot for all the advices and information you share in your post ! I am quite noob to the game, and i was far to imagine that a caracter could be so tanky ! GG : ))

I have learn a lot in reading your thread, but one question still block my plan when i think at my futur skill tree.

Can you detail how you reach 849 point of energy shield ? (w/o discipline)

You've got 120 ES from aurora shield, 140 from boots, 40% ES passiv nod for shield and 177 int.

I don't know what i am missing. I use this formula : global ES = ES from gear * [multiplier from tree + intelligence multiplier]

And i don't find 849 global ES of course ! lol

For sure your build is about stacking block/life/resist and not ES by any way but i like to know what am i doing. :p

Thks for your help or any other great player :)

I actually go to 855 naked with my 121 ES Aegis, 140 ES Boots, and +23 int on helm.. The reason is due to the fact that I have a bunch of +increased defenses nodes... so without my Shield I'm at 189 es... with it I go to 855 (and of course more with Disc).

Hi Mortezzah,

I've watched your video regarding the Uber Atziri kill. Would you mind to share a detail skill gem setup like what u did?

I notice u used 6L shockwave totem with offhand and u changed to tabula rasa during the heal phase. Do u mind to explain what u did there along with the skill gem setup?

Thanks.

Re: links in the staff in my original vid: Shockwave Totem, Chance to Flee, Increased AOE, Faster Casting, Increased Duration (so you don't need to recast it during spawn phase -- though you don't need this), Blood Magic (if your mana is an issue -- though if you 4 link it you don't need it). I would link it but I already have changed the colors for another set of tests I was doing for something else. However, use DD instead (read below).

For kicks, if you want to use a melee skill to get past her spawn phase, you can also use Ground Slam/Chance to Flee or Lightning Strike (Ground Slam is safer). Here is a quick vid snippet using Ground Slam for a low dps character in the spawn phase to show you how it can work:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7mjWEhmARI&feature=youtu.be

That being said, Double Doryani is way better when I tested it (I haven't tried it in a long time), and you don't even need Desecrate since they are undead:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxV2P2XzEow&feature=youtu.be

My recommendation for the easiest and safest clearing of spawn phase for a low dps, and refills your flasks, is Double Doryani.

Drop your Shockwave Totem/Increased Duration/Chance to Flee once at beginning of spawn phase (not really needed, by why not), and then just DD/Chance to Ignite/Conc Effect (you could also probably try Inc AOE instead of Chance to Ignite if you want).

As I stated, I changed my build significantly for Uber Queen. It is statistically doable with default Aegis builds variants, but there is a much higher chance you will die (I wish they didn't gate Uber to allow more people to try things), thus I went Safelli's and Evasion. My personal goal was to finish the content as a melee tank without dying (plus some other constraints).

I basically got Ondar's guile and Phase Acrobatics -- swapped to a few pieces of evasion gear to avoid projectile damage as much as possible (thus not taking Unwavering Stance), and a few reduced mana nodes for increasing my max resistances.

Definitely not a build I'd recommend to begin with :) You needs lots of good gear or your tank will suffer...

I would do something like this, though it would vary based on the gear I had available to me.

I kept 1 point out for +1 end charge, or speed or physical dmg... or just take more +hp or dmg on the tree.

My aura's change depending on what I want to do.. more DPS, more defense, etc.

Finally hit 100,

Using Iron Reflexes + Soul of Steel for 80% DR was the solution to my problem.

It's been a long round, nearly 2 years.

Going to take a break for a while, then finally explore other parts of PoE.

Hit standard 100 number 49 on the rankings.

Not bad :)

gz!

- may i ask what your life/Armour is?

- what was your main dmg skill?

- i wounder why so much defense with IR and Soul of Steel -> is there so much problem with physical dmg in lategame maps? i thought what kills you is big ele dmg not physical.

I'll just show my end game stats at 100. For the last level, I used cyclone/reave for grinding mobs. I switch to heavy strike instead of reave in some instances of bosses or where I was with map drops. Note: This is running without BLOOD RAGE.

4 Link Cyclone: Added Phys Melee, Fortify, Blood Magic, Cyclone
4 Linke Reave: Multistrike/ Conc Effect/ Fortify/ Reave
4 Link cwdt: Punishment/ Tempest Shield/ Increased AoE.
3 Link: Det/Grace + enlighten
3 Link: Whirling blades/ Blood magic/ Attack speed.
Everything else is damage/life/resist/armour/es from gear.

My general set up was running determination/grace. There is huge physical spikes in the big end game maps, you will need DR or hope that immortal call with help you. Elemental damage is not a big problem except added fire/cold/light damage map mod or explosions from detonate dead/exploding minions/flame barrier magic monsters (I avoid these by using a quicksilver flask and moving fast.) For leveling, immortal call was not right for my cycloner. It may work well other ways. I don't use discipline since I get es from all gear pieces. For quick clearing I would use determination/hatred which makes my dps even higher than below.
Below DPS is with punishment curse on cwdt running 80% DR det/grace with Gale Bane + 31% ias from jewels, and 70% movement speed quicksilver flask (makes my DPS probably around 25%-30% more). Hatred gets me higher. This will be one of my last posts for melee for a while. Best of luck to anyone pushing for this end game build.

Link above to build as a very customized duelist.

Thanks for the comment, this will be left here as just a variation to the Aegis Tank, this is my finished character.

I used Gale Bane (AXN's RT sword) instead of Carrion Bite (Ventor's sword) as a mirrored weapon choice, i used to use Carrion Bite, but in 2.0 with so many changes, I couldn't hit the DPS/Range I wanted with cyclone:
This is my gear:

Carrion bite has one upside to most tank builds, it has a lower dex requirement.

Gale Bane has two upsides, highest weapon range at 7, and 29% Chaos resistance, as well as the highest DPS. This actually was the best choice I ever made going forward. This sword made reave and cyclone together very good.

As a duelist, I went up the right side tree for these options:
Life leech,
48% increased dmg with swords BLOCK Node
Flask recovery speed to run a half instant pot with regen,
Saved nodes for jewels and life/armour.
Dex for running Gale Bane/ Lvl 21 Gra

If you go north of the tree to the spell block nodes, you run into various options, you will have a lot of extra intelligence to run Discipline, and you can pick up mana regen nodes. But overall I lose precious skill points for defense nodes I found were more valuable, in example : Soul of Steel, Iron Reflexes, Cannot leech life etc. I opted to change everything with the availability of jewels. Jewels can give life/spell block/ and damage etc allowing you to completely change everything about this build, if you do it right. I only used one jewel for spell block since I had a good corruption on my Aegis, but that isn't necessary. 61% spell block would work too, but could easily get up to 64% with the jewels by losing some attack speed. It would be just as viable, that was my second option.

My intelligence had to get to 96 to run Aegis Aurora and a lvl 15/20q conc Effect. So I got that through gloves and jewels as a custom build (26 from two jewels) 47 from gloves. You could also get intelligence other ways. Gear and jewels was the best thing for me.

For the jewels, I wanted Life leech, life gain on hit, mana gain on hit, sword attack speed and all life. By running so much life/dps from jewels, I finally got the build super viable.

I just wanted to show that it is possible to do this build in various other ways, but all my thoughts and knowledge are owed to this forum, Mortezzah, and guides for the help in how I built it for my gameplay style.

I think this is all the knowledge I can give to this build forum of how to use and manipulate various things in the game to build a strong tank, but this way is very doable, even without super expensive gear.
