Except Vaal Molten Sheild appears to have charges, so once you ran out you would need to wait (or kill monsters/take damage) for it to recharge.

vaal molten shell, now thats what i call a defense build gem! looks like that person that noticed the slight orange ting to the gem color wasnt imagining things, its the new identifier for vaal gems :P interesting twist!

conversion trap, summon gems, utility gems. cant wait to see their vaal versions. also, please tell us your bringing back phase run with this mini, lol. LOVED THAT GEM! still unsure why it was originally removed, it made an excellent utility purpose gem.
