How to farm exalted orbs?

But importantly, break breakables and open chests. Objects have a far higher rare currency drop rate than trash monsters.

Putting economics aside (because I don't trade) if I'm desperately in need of exalts, I'll put more into rolling arcanist boxes, like (scour bad rares) trans/alt/aug until 8 extra (possibly 7) and take no other suffix roll. Then aug if need and regal. Usually the drops won't cover the alts and regal in extra drops than if I'd just yolod it or casually rolled it. But sometimes getting that 8 extra and lucky regal of high % comes up roses.

I'll also run any Mao Kun (sp?) and vaults of titziri I have stacked up in these times of need. Mao Kun is self explanatory (all those orb chests) but vaults being a map which only has high IIR and normal chests, why run this? Chest, pots, loads of chests and pots, fucking chests and pots on pots and chests, remember, high implicit chance to drop rare currency.
