Is it worth running maps 75+ if the main goal is acquiring currency and not experience? The reason I ask is because 75s are currently going for ~6c, 76s are going for ~9c each and 77s are going for ~12c each. However, these prices don't seem to justify many added benefits besides a very slim chance of getting top tier rares. Would it be better to just stop at ~73/74s right now, seeing as you can still do Regal Recipe and they're dirt cheap? Or do you go as high as you can purely by alching (no chisels)?

Sorry if I'm asking all these questions, I just want to acquire significant currency for a build and want to know the most efficient way.

Never.

Never.

Ever.

Buy maps.

RNG on map drops can be the fastest way that you lose money.

Transmute to 72/73, alc 74+ and go. Reroll your maps as little as possible. Run your own pool at all times. Chisel only if you want to level up. Otherwise, save your chisels to sell.

Oh no, I wasn't planning on buying. I was planning on selling mine, I have a decent pool of 76 and 77s from doing 74-75s.
Alright, I'm sorry for what's going to be Spoiler heavy here, but there's been a lot of questions asking about Ventor's Gamble and whether we should include it.

The TL;DR answer is: no, unless you really super duper want to min-max your mapping efficiency and you're willing to spend upwards of 20ex for a perfect 10q/40r roll.

Now, to show the work.

All the C Map roll values you see here are going to be off a basic blue map with 40q / 20r.

Goldwyrm and Two Andvarius Rings 20q - 320r

This is the setup this build uses and assumes you are running perfect Goldwyrms / Andvarius rings in order to distribute the calculations more linearly.

As you can see, our base C value in this build is 5.04 and sees roughly a 6.13 in basic maps.

Now to show why running anything less than a perfect Ventor's Gamble is less efficient:

Goldwyrm, One Andvarius, One 5/40 Ventor - 25q - 290r

Even with a reasonable quantity roll on the Ventor and a perfect rarity roll, our C value dips to 4.9 base and 6.048 in maps.

For the record, a 7/40 Ventor has C base value of 4.95 and a C map value of 6.17. This is the absolute minimum roll I would consider acceptable to buy to replace Andvarius, since that's where it starts to edge this build's setup out if and only if your quantity/rarity ratio on your map roll exceeds 40q/20r.

Given the likelihood that you will be running a fair amount of maps in the 25/12 and 30/15 range, simply due to map RNG, even a 7/40 Ventor drops off in efficiency.

Goldwyrm, One 10/40 Ventor, One Andvarius - 30q - 290r

This is where Ventor starts to have a significant farming advantage over Andvarius. The base C value of 5.07 exceeds our double Andvarius setup, and sees a more marked improvement in maps with a 6.36c, a 0.23 C advantage over running dual Andys.

This is the setup you want to run for boss farming outside of maps.

In an ideal world, you'd end up with two perfect Ventor rings. This is the result:

Perfect dual Ventors, Goldwyrm, 40/260

The base C farming is equivalent to our Andvarius setup at 5.04 C, but the map C value starts to really take off at 6.43 C, a full 0.3 C better than dual Andy's.

A Summary Table of the Above Calculations

As a point of interest, this is how the summary table would look when running a Beyond, Unwavering, Cold res, Frenzy, Ele weakness, Poison on Hit map ( 84q/37r)

Summary In a Rare Map

The ratios scale about evenly.

------------------------------

All of this said, a perfect Ventor is going to cost you upwards of 20ex, easy. I don't see one on Warbands. The best rolled (in terms of farming) is 8/36 and it's priced at 20ex. An 8/35 is available for 8ex, and a 7/35 for 5ex.

None of these rolls would I consider to be good enough prioritizing over Andvarius.

The closest to perfect in Standard (10/39) is priced at 101ex, but it's also amazingly well rolled on the resistance.

At the time of this edit (Jan 12, 2016), 7/40 rolls go for more like 10-15ex, which is much more reasonable, but you can still pick up a perfect Andvarius for 2-2.5ex. So until you're at a point where you have enough liquid currency to just not care / invest in the min-maxing, you'll still want Andvarius over Ventor's.

At the end of the day, for the likely expense of the absolute bare minimum roll required (7/40) in order to match up with Andvarius, I can't recommend pushing for Ventor's Gamble until you're absolutely rolling in the money and just feel like min-maxing the build for sh**s and giggles.

Honestly... I'm flat out not sure. Because it's so very RNG based.

Maintaining 74-75 isn't a problem, and there are streaks where I don't have issues sustaining 76/77 either. But then the past two days I haven't had a single 76.

I leave it up to you, but I think if it was me I'd be saving the maps to level other characters or wait until 78s started dropping, and sell those for 24c+ each. If you get on a streak, you could make 4ex in a real hurry.

I just tried the double Arena boss thing. Took me 18 alts (and some number of augs) before I hit twinned. Got 1 unique, 25 alts (using all 6 portals, had to leave loot on the ground; I prioritized the small items), a few augs and some alch shards. However, considering that I would have normally gotten 3 bosses already, and I already use more than half my portals for almost all maps, I don't think it's worth alt spamming to hit twinned. Granted, small sample size, yes, but based on prior experience rolling maps twinned isn't that common. With an MF build like this, you already get more than enough rares just by regular mapping; no need to overload and spam one map.

Not to mention, 71s are a dime a dozen anyway, so even if you were intent on running Arena, it'd probably be cheaper to just buy another Arena instead of alt-spamming one to twinned.

Fair point.

It's mostly useful (imho) if you corrupt it after getting twinned. Chance at 6 sac frags total, probably get at least 3.

That's 3 chaos back.

Of course, presuming it doesn't reroll or uproll.

Serleth,

Was boring to play this build at first but that all changed when I got to mapping and started seeing all the drops! Thanks for sharing your build, having a lot of fun now.

Just had a quick question;

What mod would you add to this to up my damage output? Note: I am currently Res capped.

I can add Dex, IAS, more Res or IPS. I feel like I should save the slot until I see a res fall below cap as I bring up IIQ/IIR on the rest of the gear.

Does increase projectile help with clear speed at all?

IPS indirectly helps with clear speed, but it's quite marginal. It just means your PA shot hits where you target it faster. It's unnecessary. Same can be said for IAS, though IAS is definitely more beneficial for those moments where you misfire and need to shoot again.

If I were you though, I'd do one of two things: a) do exactly as you said and wait to see what resistance you need to offset or b) start working on Leo dailies and craft the Damage Over Time % increase at Level 3 Leo.

Also, I'm glad you stuck it out and are having fun now =)

It would consume our frenzy charges for a duration of 12.6 seconds (without inc. dur. gem), but what is that "less visible to enemies" doing? Are they not attacking anymore in 80% of the cases? Somebody with concrete description on that? Wiki lacks.

I also am running Split Arrow - Curse on Hit - Vuln - Chain to curse / smash boxes with one key, works out, found a shiney Ex AND a Brittle Emperor in Dried Lake containers / barrels. RNG for sure but it's convenient to curse enemies a screen away + they run towards you, sometimes :)
