Instance lags and overall lag spikes on EU
Hey guys, I'm from Siberia, Russia. For about a week or two already I am basically unable to play PoE due to constant lag spikes every evening (I guess it's prime time in europe). Ping jumps from 100 to 500+ every second or two. My average ping before was 90-100 on Frankfurt gateway.
What's strange is sometimes I join instance and it doesn't lag, but if I go to town and return back into the instance the game starts lagging and sometimes new instances just lag from the start. Also I usually don't have lags in my h/o, but lag like crazy in towns. Here's what it looks like in game. First screen in my h/o (ping ~90), second one - right after I jumped into a map (instant spikes up to 1000+)

I tried to reboot my router and added PoE in my "trusted" software in my Antivirus - it didn't help. So I guess it's not on my side. Maybe somebody could say something that'd help me. ![]() ![]() As you can see from those screenshots, I have a steady ~120 ping in h/o (which is managable), but have pretty big spikes in town. Same lag spikes occur in other instances (like maps and master dailies). My connection is wired, I play from home, firewall is off and the game was added in antivirus "trusted" programms (also tried to turn it off completely, without any results). Tried to change gateways (London, Amsterdam, Milan) - same lags. Tried to reboot my router with no results. I play on lockstep. Tried to change it to predictive - gameplay don't freeze, but same lags are still there. I can record a video if necessary. Other games don't lag for me, only Path of Exile every evening. It is a little bit frustrating since evening is the only time I can play and I'm HC player, so I'm kinda forced to play strictly on weekeds and I was hoping I'd be able to complete all league challenges. I hope somebody could help us resolve this problem. Any help appreciated. Última edição por Magictrick#6722 em 28 de jan. de 2016 21:31:03

I'm a bit concerned with this hop in your trace:
| 10.245.138.242 - 0 | 400 | 400 | 1 | 2 | 142 | 2 | | rascom.w-ix.net - 0 | 400 | 400 | 50 | 53 | 189 | 51 | It seems strange that you are seeing such a large jump in response time so soon after data leaves your local network. Because your response times are already averaging around 50ms before your even get far out from your route, by the time they get to the destination the latency time and any fluctuations in the connections are exaggerated. Do you see that route and jump in latency when you run WinMTR to other locations? "I would have listened... I would have understood!" - Scion
Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet? |

I don't see this route when I run WinMTR to test patching server at 'patchcdn.pathofexile.com' (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/361292), but I have it on every gateway listed in stickied thread.
Results are pretty similiar, jump in latency on this hop is ~40-50

So I went a little bit further, took instances IPs from 'Client.txt' in 'logs' folder and ran WinMTR
I did 2 tests - in hideout and in laggy instance (dried lake). Test 1. Hideout. Here's screenshot ingame while WinMTR test was running (~140 ping, pretty managable, I could play with this ping)

I'm wondering if there might be 2 things going on here. I think there is obviously a bit of an issue with the route between you and the gateway. Seeing such large jumps in latency through hops ( without packet loss ) strikes me as a problem with the route being used. There's gotta be a more efficient route to the PoE gateways.
However, I think there may be an underlying issue with certain instances you are connecting to. If you create several instances to the same area that has latency problems, to you eventually get one with better latency results? Or does switching gateways and trying the same area yield much different results? "I would have listened... I would have understood!" - Scion

" Yes, I am getting instances with better results. Just tried 3 dried lakes, the first two were OK-ish with ping ~150 plus occasional spikes up to 200-250, but not a lot, and the third one was horrendous (spikes every second up to 900+). All on Frankfurt gateway. Same results with different gateways.
