[3.1][HC] Scorching RF Inquisitor - cheap starter build - ZiggyD

Hey guys,

been playing around with this build in SC for a few days, feel free to have look at my char I've done a few different things with the gearing.

5.5k hp
2.3k mana (1k Reserved)

From tool tip,

SR 16883 (with RF on)
SR 12180 (without RF)

These are unbuffed stood in hideout.

still building up my map pool, so not able to push to much but currently on T10 maps and most mobs die just shield charging over them with RF and just blast the larger health mobs with SR

also have killed normal Atziri

hope you guys are having as much fun as i am

There are a lot of questions, how to sustain mana & life reg.

First of all: I'm a casual player who mostly plays after guides and I'm not sophisticated in making builds. But for those who have asked how to sustain and make decent dps I decide to post my stats. I would never say, that this is the way to go, but it's one way.

U can also look at my gear and tree, to get a idea how i managed all the reg.

Nice guide, having fun with it :)

For people having problems with Mana:
Under the Deep Wisdom Node are 3 nodes with %max mana and Mana Regen. They help a lot to sustain Mana. Once you get enough Mana/Mana Regen you can spec out of it and take something else.
And keep in mind that the more life you have, the more mana/mana regen you need. So sometimes it might be better to skip some life nodes until you get better mana on equipment.
Having 4k or 4.5k often does not matter for leveling/mapping if you can sustain your mana better.
If anyone is interested in purchasing a full set of gear for this type of character I am selling mine, link below. If this is not allowed then I will delete (I'm not sure).

I'm absolutely at my wits end.
I dinged endgame yesterday, did some shopping and pushed to 75 today to get my Doryani's to work and I gotta say I'm almost at a point where I wanna abandon the build despite it potentially being quite fun.

(PoB pastebin at the bottom btw)

About 75% of the time everything goes pretty smoothly (thanks to doryani's) as far as trashmobs are concerned, got my regens working, etc. The other 25%, I'm just being torn to shreds instantly in various situations (just a selected few):

-The boss in ramparts for example tends to just annihilate me; during the last couple runs I just didn't bother and left after clearing trash.

-A mobpack in Cells melted me before I was able to do anything about it.

-Encountered a Rogue Exile in Cemetary, 2 leap slams later, I'm gone.

-Same map, Bossroom. Since I had a feeling I might just get deleted once again, I turned on OBS to record a visual example of what I'm talking about https://youtu.be/b1nVUHP0zVI

(Sidenote: To me, it seems like medium/high physical damage (especially combined with decent AS) on mobs is something you cannot easily deal with.)

Allthough I realize there's a shitton of damage incoming and it was a bold move of me to just try to waltz right in there, I can't help but wonder what makes this build able to seemingly easily sustain in t14+ maps from what I've gathered so far, while I just get sent back to my hideout instantly in a measily t8 map.

Obviously gear plays more than a major role there but after rechecking and comparing my gear about what feels like a hundred times and educating myself about the inner workings of this build, I don't think I can blame at least most of it for dying repeatedly even on a semi-badly/semi-well rolled t6 map.

Here's the PoB data: https://pastebin.com/gSDbGe8K

Sorry if this came off a bit too ranty or something and I'd be really grateful for any pointers/tips you guys might have but I got extremely frustrated trying to get the ball rolling with this build so far.

cheers!
^you didnt mention using decoy totem. its been quite help to me

Watching the video, its physical damage that is killing you. You have only 17% reduction from Armor, I would suggest you get a Cast when damage taken - Immortal Call link setup. That will stop the burst physical damage from killing you.
Is there a reason to use clarity if you no longer need it for mana regen? I can sustain RF without it so I assume it frees up a gem socket. Not sure, though, maybe its needed for regen for eHP?

Yeah I was actually about to try a cwdt-IC setup but that seems to be, absolutely no disrespect towards you, only a bandaid solution to the underlying problem of getting tanked by any decent amount of incoming physical damage since IC is on a 3sec CD and thus basically not sufficient enough to get a high enough amount of defensive consistency into the build (from my perspective of course).

I've compared a couple other PoB-setups to mine, and, as far as I was able to see, none other had noticeably more armor than I have. That's why this is so puzzling to me, either I have grossly overlooked something or.. I dunno.

TL;DR getting my ass handed to me by phys damage and no idea how that's supposed to be handled. :(

Build seems fine to me so far.
Physical Damage defintely is relatelively dangerous with low armour. I don't have more and sometimes this can happen if you are not careful. Charging in like this may not be the best option against map bosses with so many other minions ;-)
Using scorch ray to kill some is obviously better, some map bosses just hit hard.
But while you charge in, you walk the last steps up to them instead of shieldcharging so you dont even get the damage reduction from Fortify, this can make a huge difference.
In addition, I use a granite flask(with increased Armour) and Basalt Flask for high physical damage reduction. Using both together and you can facetank stuff like eternal lab Izaro.
Feels more useful to me than increasing your Evasion which is pretty low anyway.
Using a decoy totem is also pretty helpful for larger mobs.

Maybe this helps you a bit :)
