Check right under Vaal Pact, there's Life and Mana Leech

Started with this build at the beginning of the league, then for the past two weeks tried some other builds, and just had to go back to it. Nice job.

I think I might want to take this character to a higher level than I've reached before, but in order to do so I may need more AoE and survivability. Based on the gear that I have, does anyone have suggestions on what items would be best to upgrade?

NOTE5: We no longer leech mana at all, so therefore we do not need Enlighten, and must have -mana cost on both rings. This makes any attack/skill FREE, and we do not need to invest at all in mana leech.

For people who keep asking how to upgrade their gear:

- Do your jewels have 4 affixes that affect your damage or 3 damage affixes and 1 life affix?
- Does your gear have both Phys Damage and Attack Speed (if RT, if Crit then Crit Chance and Multi are options too, especially Multi)? Are they good rolls?
- Do you have at least 100 life on each item (70 on rings I suppose)
- Are you using a Stygian Vise (don't use Rustic Slash)? I also like it better than the unique options for added suitability.

Also switching from RT to Crit is essentially free. Just need Precision and Enlighten (Level 4 for everything, otherwise you you can make do with a Level 2 but will need a lower level Precision and no Maim Suppot - still heaps more damage). You do lose Vaal Pact/Overleech and 2 gems slots, but I think the damage output is worth it. I felt much more survivable since things died faster.

It depends on where you want your build to go,swords builds can go higher, but can get extremely expensive. You also have to respect quite a lot if you want to go sword.

If you want the sword variant, I would recommend what crazypearce did. It's a bit different from the main build guide, but it's still pretty solid.

That is what I'm trying now, and so far it's much better survivability wise than the regular build,soul tether combined with the new jewel gives you that extra bit in those oh shit moments.

Would it be better to get a 802 pDPS axe with no Fortify but +1 to gems, or a 658 pDPS axe with level 20 Fortify?

Are the 3 points on the savagery (+1 Frenzy Charges and 2 frenzy charge duration) necessary?

pretty simple to work out

658*1.34 = 881 pdps for the fortify weapon

pretty sure +1 gems is somewhere around 5% making the pdps around 840

With 2 rings each having -7 mana cost, you still need the enlighten? Per my calculations we need to reserve 98% of mana, but all still are mana free due to the rings.

Enlighten is needed only if you either can't craft -mana or have very specific gear and need more resists and life on your rings instead of -mana. I'm still using my enlighten because I will have some gear changes soon, otherwise the gem isn't needed if you have 2X -mana rings.
