Delve over? First PoE complaint from Diablo referral

I have to agree that the communication about the end of the league was rather poor, to put it lightly. It should be something that's readily available, and it's a poor disservice to new and returning players to expect them to know right off the bat when leagues start and end(apparently they end Mondays and start Fridays) or that they scour the archives.

You want to encourage these people to continue playing the game, not do the opposite and discourage them by locking them out of rewards due to poor communication.

I second that.
After just returning to the game recently and only having a few weeks to work with to grind out achievements, it's quite frustating being cut short just a few steps before reaching a set goal (essentially wasting a ton of time), which would've been approached differently if it wasn't for the lack of information about the league's end.

I hope in the future, this information will be communicated more clearly through in game notifications, or something equaly accessible.

I was hit by surprise as well,

was at 21 and wanted to get the three missing ones until Friday. Thought I had time, since no announcement at the forum.

Thing with gaming companies these days is their hang to only talk to "in" people at social media. I checked the Twitter and there they had the whole schedule posted.
They also mention there that today we get patch notes, tomorrow passive tree and so on. At the forum I did not see an announcement like that.

Leave alone reddit, where they post a huge amount of stuff all the time. I have to admit, social media is just not my thing, it all get buried so fast, while at a forum you can bookmark stuff and come back to it later.

Anyways,

looking forward to the next league, even though I still believe it will be too complicated for most players just like Incursion was.
A LOT of information needs to be displayed in the in-game client.

If they can proudly proclaim when a new league is launching with a count-down timer, they can most certainly put in a notice alongside it (or a SECOND, smaller countdown) of when the current league ends.

This goes up there with notifications for store sales: I get PM'd on the forums whenever an item on my watchlist is on sale, which is next to useless. Why can't it give me an in-game alert?

It's been years, and GGG hasn't quite grasped the idea that their playerbase aren't 100% Reddit junkies or whatever. The only unifying place where we all go is, well, the game itself.

All of your sulphite is gone too :)

We're kind of in the limbo state right now. Meaning we're only a small part of the way to getting the new league mechanics. The new league mechanics have not yet been done. That means that some things we're used to are not there. For example Delve is not there because Delve does not exist in standard yet, not until the Betrayal league starts. IIRC, GGG said that our progress in Delve would be carried over to standard. If true then our sulphite will be there.

Thanks again for all of the thoughtful comments. @ACGIFT thank you for the details on the new league roll-out process - that is very helpful in providing a cadence for what to expect in the week leading up to a new league.
I was effectively a day off in my expectation. I forgot that it was 11 PM but ... 11PMUTC. I hope that GGG maybe adds a timer for the league end near to the league start timer going forward because this one really through me off and I was in point of fact still pushing for challenges.

My god I'm still really frustrated by my inability to find an Underground Stash and that my destroy wall challenge bugged out for what most of the league. I was still grinding delve regularly but I still was at something like 55/100 walls destroyed. I was getting it finished while looking for that Underground Stash because I could keep checking laterally with remaining sulphite at depths ~70-100 and ~40-60 to and try to be efficient about my spreading light. I was confident I could get to a Perandus node after lunch and maybe complete the delve encounters IV and after running at least two the tier 16 maps I could buy the rest to Run Shaper, while keeping the Zana quest going so that I could immediately rush to complete monsters 2 and deadly encounters.

In the same boat as me, I'd taken a long, long break and only just recently returned(not used to how leagues work). Imagine how new players(like Diablo exiles) felt when the servers went down and their characters were kicked to Standard or Hardcore. I wouldn't be surprised if they thought the Betrayal countdown was also the countdown to the end of Delve.

Thanks again for all of the feedback.

I haven't heard anything back, but hopefully the PoE dev and community teams have enough feedback to understand the negative impact to not clearly and persistently communicating the end date for a league.

Hopefully, someone from GGG can comment on this improvement suggestion. If not, I'll post back if I hear anything.

Take care and thanks again for all of the engagement, helpful information, and additional perspectives included in this thread.

Cheers and I hope to see you in betrayal!

Nope, GGG never comments on the requests or suggestions or anything like that on the forums. I've seen new thread starting in the announcement section kind of requesting input but even then there is no response to the input. If nothing else it could be interpreted as a promise to do something if they even said it sounded like a good idea so you can't blame them.
