This is what I use. It's nearly as much damage against bosses as a +2 to impale hits (12% more dmg compared to 13.3% more), and is half the price (for some reason I can't fathom). Also it works from the first hit, whereas the +2 version only starts to kick in after 5 stacks (which takes about 0.37 seconds on my setup). So it's way better for mapping, and also better vs bosses, due to the fact that +2 has to make up for 0.37 seconds worth of lost damage, with only a 1.3% edge over the 'chance for double damage' version. In fact, you would have to be constantly hitting a boss for nearly 4 seconds before +2 even catches up with the damage that 'chance for double damage' version would have done, and even after that +2 is only does 1.1% more dps. Shaper doesn't last nearly that long. Not sure why the market hasn't cottoned on to this. Or am I missing something?


Hmm my formula for impale damage is 2,11*1*hits(5to9)*10. Without the watchers eye it gives me with 5 hits (2,11*1*5*10) 105,5 more damage and with watchers eye I get 2,11*1*7*10=147,7 so it seems like a pretty big upgrade. With champion I could get 2,11*1*9*10=189,9.

2,11 comes from +111% impale effect since I got the skewering passives and level 21 impale support and 1 is 100% chance to impale. I got the formula from some mbXtreme video, so I cant vouch for that.


Ah I see where I went wrong now. I thought I could cancel out all the more multipliers and just say 1.7/1.5 = 1.13, but you can't because the multipliers have to be added to 1 first before they become actual multipliers. So here's the (hopefully correct now) calculation:

2.11*1*5*10 = 105.5% more damage (5 stacks), so the multiplier is 2.055
2.11*1*7*10 = 147.7% more damage (7 stacks), so the multiplier is 2.477
2.11*1*9*10 = 189.9% more damage (9 stacks), so the multiplier is 2.899

So going from 5>7 stacks, it's 2.477/2.055 = 1.205, so 20.5% more damage.
Going from 7>9 stacks it's 2.899/2.477 = 1.17, so 17% more damage.

from 5>7, assuming it takes 0.37 secs to get to full stacks, +2 will catch up with '12% chance' after n seconds where n satisfies 20.5(n-0.37) = 12n. So n= 0.89 seconds. Meaning +2 starts to overtake 'chance' after 0.89 seconds of constant hitting. If you're on 7 stacks already, +2 is much worse: n satisfies 17(n-0.518) = 12n, so n = 1.7612.

If this maths is correct then I would argue that +2 is absolute shit for champions with master of metal. I also still think 'chance for double damage' version is a bit better at 5 stacks, because 0.89 seconds is still a long time when you're practically insta-phasing shaper.

Also if you have different impale effect than me, then the formula of course changes. I got Impale Support 21/20 but Dread Banner is only 20/20. Dread Banner 21/20 would give atleast +2% Impale effect :)

That would give me 2.13*70=149,1% more damage but I dont think that is worth the 1.3exa the dread banner now costs :)

edit. Bought Dread Banner 20/22 since according to the wiki table, it gives 21% Increased Impale Effect and it was cheap :) Now my Impale damage should be 2.12*70=148,4% more damage.

Hello Guys i need some help , i'm lost at point where i am ? Don't know what can i upgrade , also i miss fire res , can't do uber elder deathless , im using like 2-3 portals or more sometimes i need some help

Been using this build for most of the league, it's very fun! I'm fairly new to the game, just started last league so I'm wondering what I can improve for my gear etc.

Running all content pretty easily meanwhile, but still interested in ways to push my equipment.

One way would probably be well rolled elder steel rings with meele damage and double phys dmg but those are super expensive :/

Your gear is pretty similar to mine, main difference being that you don't have assassin's mark curse on hit ring. It's a pretty big boost - I get 8.2% more damage when equipping it, although this will be different for everyone. Can be expensive though for a decent one, and you may have to rearrange your gear around it to stay res capped
wow getting max res is hard for me without spending ton of currency.

made it, but lost 500hp with daresso salute and still lacking ton of intelligence... :(
