Last league I would have agreed, but this league with the changes to slower proj and BL losing the native aoe from sab is too big a hit imo.

Since I am far from good at game and pob or so , this aoe u r talking about is all about clear or dmg overall? coz i cant see any difference in my clear speed.
Will see how it will go , maybe I will swtitch back to sab
But according to POB i have more damage at lower lvl with Ascendant

Penetration
Trigger socketed spell
Crit multi

another question about rings. How do you guarantee spell dmg or max ES on rings when you slam it with a crusader orb? arn't their other things it could hit also?
