Wrecker's 3.14 Minion Champ(ion) (not a guide, sorry!)

Thanks for posting the build, Wrecker!
I've played around with this build for a bit and while I haven't gotten to yellow maps yet, (not enough time) it's shaping up to be my most favorite out of your builds.

I decided to lean more into the 'suprise party' mechanic and switch out Bladestorm for Dominating Blow, like you mentioned on your podcast. My garbage gear has gotten me through some ultimatums that I assumed that I couldn't handle, and have lasted through maps that I would normally need to upgrade gear to progress. It's really exciting to build momentum and have a large wave of minions cascade over the battlefield with your character leading the charge. (all with one button!) While my gems and passives are definitely not optimized, I'm sure you can work with the switch and come up with something even better.

I'm excited to see what you do with this build in the future, and will definitely stay tuned for more updates!

ok wrecker, you did it again. I should just play your builds. I'm currently lvl 75, and to be honest, running into a pack of mobs, using right hand only, coffee cup in left, and sipping....IMHO it doesn't get much better than that.

I've always enjoyed melee, and have tried witch and necro builds, but taking one step into an area and spamming your minions waiting for the screen to clear...that's not for me. Maybe that's why I've come to the conclusion this game is made for groups and non-melee builds, I read the forums and hear about all these fights I'll never see, a simulcron 20-20, maven, uber elder, even Sirus A8, I've always struggled with conquerors, will doubtfully ever fill an atlas, and this league.. with 4 other failed builds.. haven't even seen a red map.

but I persist, and I'm liking how this build feels. Thanks.

ps at level 76 walked thru uber lab, easiest ive ever done it.

Thanks Tommy and Nice! I'm glad the builds are working well for you. The key is always fun first. But getting the content done in a fun manner always helps ;). Thanks for the wonderful encouragement :).

I've been playing with Dominating Blow as well again. It has some pretty heavy pros and cons but the build (Surprise Party) has a way higher damage potential. So that may outway the sticky situations Dom. B. can get caught in that the lower potential damage (but greater individual damage) Bladestorm brings to the table. We'll see.

I appreciate everyone's feedback both here and elsewhere and I really appreciate the time you've given me. I'll be making my 3.15 choices this week so any further feedback you wish to give should be done soon.

Thank you, everyone. You're the best.

Loving this build so far

Only at 39 and loving the build so far. Needed to branch out for some int on the tree early on which made it a lot smoother and the mobs just melted away.

Wasn't to sure which gems to start lvling with , so started with cleave and then switched to ground slam which made the lvling a lot smoother till lvl 28 for bladestorm

Currently working my way up to axe nodes on tree and then onwards to minion and health/chaos nodes

Will update as I progress, but so far thumbs up , having fun

Wrecker,

Just saw you will be making your decisions for 3.15 this week... I will not be able to give final feedback on Trigger Happy or Surprise Party until then end of this weekend, as I make my push to finalize my gear.... Just an FYI that my feedback is incoming... but maybe late

I look forward to your feedback no matter what. It's been hard for me to choose. I have some filter stuff I'm working on as well so don't rush :). Thanks for everything!

Been playing this in Standard for a bit, and have reached level 90 (113 passives). According to POB, the damage is awful, but I do not think the main display includes minion damage (and I am not sure where to find it). The build is handling tier 14 maps okay, but it gets dicey in higher tiers and/or I juice the map too much. This may not be a build issue, it is most likely due to the gear I currently have equipped.

I was able to kill Kitava in act 10 without a death (first time ever) with a 5 link Reaper's Pursuit axe and a Tabula Rasa. So the gear was not great there either (other than the links), but it did okay.

Thanks Kestiah!

Ya, PoB is an awesome app for sure, but there's so much to the game...so no matter the improvements made to the app, there's always going to be something to overlook. In this case, all of the Phantasms aren't properly calculated with HoP. It gets a little more tricky if you get rid of Bladestorm for Dominating Blow as well.

I appreciate your feedback. What do you think is missing defensively that makes the higher-tier stuff dicey? Is it your gear? Is it how much the build stands around for? Is the health recovery not enough?

Hey Wrecker! Threw this onto an old character in standard today, and I definitely like it. I think I'm going to play it as a starter in 3.15 unless there's some kind of relevant meganerf. :)

Awesome internationalfish! That's cool. I'm glad you like it. I'm playing with different ideas of this build right now. I'm trying Dominating Blow instead of Bladestorm for a bit (obviously without Lifetap). I have SO many ideas for the Champ. It's really hard to choose.

To me, the build HAS to be able to take damage standing still for a bit. Easily. We'll see. I keep bouncing between Dominating Blow, General's Cry/Earthshatter, Bladestorm...this game...;).

Thanks for your kind words! Let me know how things go.
