Hard crashing PC locks up

For people who have crashed recently, could you please check your dxdiag for this:

Problem signature:
P1: PathOfExileSteam.exe

Below would be:
P2: 0.0.0.0
P3: 67544a58
P4: KERNELBASE.dll
P5: 10.0.19041.5131
P6: 011921da
P7: e0000001
P8: 000000000003b699
P9:
P10:

P2: 0.0.0.0
A value of 0.0.0.0 usually means the version was not correctly detected or not specified in the file properties. Perhaps this is the problem? Maybe some exe files are faulty? (Should be impossible but... To clarify: Maybe we got the wrong exe files during preload. This is me grasping at straws that are not there though...)

P3: 67544a58
This is the build timestamp of the exe itself in hexadecimal format. (Saturday, June 17, 2024, 03:56:56 UTC.)

e0000001 suggests the error originates from how the application interacts with the OS, rather than an underlying hardware fault. (Does not mean this is not a driver issue though)

000000000003b699 is the location of the problem on Kernelbase.dll itself.

Typically such crashes arise from improper usage of system APIs by the application.

I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do:
1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad.
2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review.
3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there.

Potential fix
Couldnt get past char selection the past few days.. crash whenever I tried to load in..

Noticed in windows logger that GameInput Service failed to start at the exact time I was crashing in loading screen (happened multiple times)

I tried repairing and resetting this service in settings:
windows settings -> apps -> installed apps -> Gaming Services

Not a single crash ever since. coincidence? idk - I will test it out again tomorrow.

To permanently disable the Microsoft Game Input app in Windows 11, you can follow these steps:

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

Type "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter to open the Services window.

In the Services window, scroll down and locate the "GameInput Service" entry.

Right-click on "GameInput Service" and select Properties.

In the Properties window, under the General tab, change the Startup type to "Disabled".

Click on the Stop button to stop the service if it is currently running.

Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.

Thought I'd share that in case anyone else wants to test the above. Anything is worth a shot at this point.

We really should get some free cosmetics or something for troubleshooting so hard. It's a testament to how desirable it is to play the game, really. I wouldn't bother doing all this for an Ubisoft title.

Disabled GameInput Service, but crashed 30min after that. No luck there I guess
Still no fix or any sort of acknowledgement aside from send me a file. Starting to become concerned this is a serious issue with the code and it will either take weeks to months or just never be fixed at all.
Anyone get a new windows update just recently tonight?

I'm experiencing the Hard freeze leading to needing a power cycle on my computer to resolve. Currently this is locking my ability to progress as it attempts to reload back into the problematic map.

All instances of mine are relative to my entering the Spires of Deshar.

System Specs:

Win 11 v. 24H2
11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11600K @ 3.90GHz 3.91 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070ti v.566.36

Just recovered from my worst crash yet.

PC just shut off after killing the Boss on the Dreadnaught (it crashed in the middle of the cutscene that plays after beating that boss - I wasn't even actively playing at that moment), rebooted and then wouldn't load to desktop and crashed again right after Windows Login screen. Same loop happened 3 times in a row.

I had to force it into Safe Mode and then used system restore.

(And this is using only 12 out of the 16 cores)

Everything is back to normal now.

I don't know what the hell POE2 is doing to our PCs, but it's not good. GGG needs to fix this ASAP.

Has anyone tried messing around with page file size? I have a very limited amount of RAM (16GB) and I added a second Windows-managed page file on a SSD separate from my C: SSD. In-game loading performance did improve considerably and it hasn't crashed yet, but it's only been about 30 minutes. The game loads the next zone much faster. That makes me wonder if memory limitations and simply how long it takes to load a zone might play a factor. The longer it takes, the more likely it might be to crash (?).

I'll post again after a few consistent hours of play/loading.

What helped me was the following: You need to manually set the virtual memory. I set the minimum to 4096 MB and the maximum to 32768 MB, which uses my system SSD as virtual RAM.

This was previously managed by the system and was set to around 2094 MB or so. I assume that the paging file is larger and that the system does not adjust the size in time or at all.

To do this, press Windows key + R and type sysdm.cpl. In the Advanced tab, select the first section. Then, again under the Advanced tab, you can set the virtual memory. You can give it a try; this has currently solved the problem for me.

Thanks for posting, this also worked for me. I had a ~4h session yesterday and didn't crash once. When loading, sometimes seems like it would crash (the cogs kinda stop spinning) but then it loads the game.

I'm running 24H2, Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB ram, 2070 Super.

Try this if you guys haven't yet

Cross-posting this because it seems relevant. Increasing page file size is helping me, as described in this post.
