Hard crashing PC locks up

For everyone saying 24h2 is the reason. My 24h2 was installed 3 days before launch and game was working perfectly fine with stable fps and fast loading. Issues started few days later. Im not sure if it was at the same time as the ¨loot¨ buff patch or a bit earlier so they pushed something into build that is causing insane CPU issues.

Also based on all errors when game crashed the only information I was able to get is that its crashing because windows protects hardware from overheating.
If POE is actually forcing hardware to go over factory limits then this is way bigger issue than I thought in first place and Im gonna be honest even from small indie developers I didnt see such a big issue.

Also I noticed one thing. When you close everything(browser, other apps, second monitor etc) The game itself will probably not crash. Somehow theres a code in the game to use 100% of your CPU to load a shaders probably in the loading screen and when you have something else open the system will overclock

GGG please support your game
My PC had downloaded 24H2 a week ago. I updated it yesterday and PoE2 didn't crash, but after the update my PC did. Only the hard restart helped, freeze again (loading screens). So now I tried the help from owa#5129 on page1 worked, thanks!

Most of us don't have the choice to go back to 23H2, but you do.

Believe me, rollback. There is absolutely nothing of value in 24H2 in general and you avoid a lot of headaches.

Windows Update -> Advanced -> Turn back (or something similar)f
I did roll back to 23H2
3 days without a single freez.

I uninstalled the GPU drivers using DDU and reinstalled them without connecting to the internet.
Added all folders related to the game to Windows Defender exclusions.
Disabled core isolation.
Reinstalled the game.
Ran PoEUncrasher.
Switched from DX12 to Vulkan.
Played for 6 hours without a single freeze; everything worked perfectly.
Let’s see how it goes moving forward—honestly, I’m not sure which of the steps actually did the trick! 😊

As I mentioned earlier, six hours of gaming went without any issues.
Today, I launched the game, and right on the first loading screen, my PC die...

I crashed earlier today outside of a loading screen, and the error in event viewer said something about secure boot. I checked my system information, and my secure boot was turned off. I turned it on in the bios, and I'm not saying this fixed anything, but I'm curious if that could be a potential issue?

Anyone crashing with your secure boot turned on?

Nevermind, I crashed like 5 minutes after posting this lol. If you're having crashes outside of loading screens though turning on secure boot might fix that.

Shouldn't affect gameplay, but it's always good to check after a BIOS update to make sure your mobo has Secure Boot, TPM and Windows UEFI all turned on. Assuming you have a Windows system.

For Intel users (specifically 13th and 14th gen users) suffering from this issue, I have the solution for probably a large portion of us. The windows version is completely irrelevant. I learned this in the dumbest way possible. I had a lot of friends begging me to attempt to play marvel rivals with them, upon downloading the game a large notification came up on the launcher that informed 13th and 14th gen users that if they are unable to load the shaders without their game crashing, they should download Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and set the Performance Core Ratio down from 55 to either 53 or 52.

I originally ignored this, attempted to download the shaders, and the game crashed. Afterwards, I attempted one final time and my screen froze up exactly as it did after loading instances in POE 2 maps. I immediately downloaded the Intel tool, changed my performance core ratio to 52, and the game ran as smooth as butter. The next day, I figured I could try POE 2 again and boom. It's running perfectly smooth on max graphics. I have minimized, opened up other applications, and streamed the game without a single crash for the last two days.

I wish I understood more about computers because Path of Exile 2 absolutely melts your cpu whenever you are loading into new areas (albeit for maybe two seconds). Please if you are an Intel users try this and see if it works. You may have to reopen the tool every time you turn on your PC but once it is on, you should have no issues.

I also have the same issue with Marvel and Black Myth: Wukong. For some reason, I experience auto-reboots or blue screens when downloading shaders in both games. However, after I lowered my performance core ratio by 2, I had no issues downloading shaders, and gameplay was fine. But I still have issues with POE 2, so I updated my BIOS because some information suggested that a new BIOS could fix CPU problems. After updating my BIOS, my performance core ratio automatically decreased by 4, and after that, all the issues disappeared. I have no idea why this is happening; my CPU is a 12600K, not a 13th or 14th generation , Window 24H2
