POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
no crashes (on 24h2) since the patch.

" This is very unfortunate if true, although not surprising since they have been apt to attribute this to 24H2 and not entertain that it is a systemic problem. E.g. if you run the client on a recent Linux kernel like 6.12 or 6.13 (try a rolling distro like something based on Arch) you will absolutely experience the crash. A workaround mitigation that is conditional for a specific build of Windows will do nothing to help those customers. They even removed this issue from the known issues / high priority issues thread. That is totally unacceptable. |

" What do you want them to do? They have a race condition somewhere deep in the bowels of their asset loader. This code was probably inherited from PoE1 and has been subjected to decades of performance/security hacks (probably by employees that no longer even work at GGG) until it has become an inscrutable mess. That the current dev team doesn't have the technical knowledge to diagnose and fix the problem properly is obvious from the fact that this thread has had hundreds of replies in it for months now. They've found a workaround that works for most players on the most popular OS's most recent patch version, and have moved on to fixing more visible and easier bugs. |

Not a single crash after the fix. Before would take 4-5 crashes to enter a map.

The patch fixed so far the crashes/hard locks while loading but yesterday i had the first hard lock while playing. It was the same behavior compared to the loading issues before the patch and i had to reset the PC.
So there seems to be another issue but it´s very rare because it happend after some hours of playing the game. Última edição por Slitta#4748 em 11 de fev de 2025 05:34:10

Update from me:
The game is still running great. The only concern is that POE Uncrasher (which I still keep running in the 2nd monitor) almost always reports a "not responding" on the first zone I enter after logging in a character. After that, it zones just fine. Odd, but I'll still keep POE Uncrasher running for now. |

Updated my W10 to W11 to be able to play on 24h2 but still crashing at some times. If it finally loads properly I can play some time. Today had 2 full computer crashes with POE2 (blue screens). And still at times closes the game on load up. So I would assume not fully fixed, but better since the last update.

The game still keeps on hard crashing...
The only good I can say that the loading screen crashes seem to have lessened. GGG is still adverse to establish a clear line of communication between its customers and itself. There is also the fact that Microsoft have not backed GGG's claim of working with Microsoft to find a better long term solution. They had made an announcement for the case with the Ubisoft, but not with the GGG... So GGG's claim that they are working with Microsoft is suspicious. So once again I'm bumping with these questions, in hopes that maybe they will get answered by GGG's official staff: 1) What went wrong? 2) What you are doing to fix it? 3) What possible causes have you eliminated as the source of the problem? 4) What triggers have you discovered that starts the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds) 5) What is your estimated time of fix? 6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in your testing period? 7) What you will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue? 8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game? To other paying customers like me who have spent their money on this faulty product: As long as GGG is not interested in open communication our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner. I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do: 1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad. 2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review. 3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there. |
