Act 3 - Boss not dropping Large Soul Core.

I dropped the Large Soul Core from my inventory and the item disappeared instantly. I went back to the boss to get another one, but after killing the boss i realized that it doesn't drop another large soul core. Now i can't activate the passage to Matlan Waterways.
