POE1 lovers, where were you guys when i was bitchin about POE2 being separate from POE1
I've never been happier that they're separate games.
I would still feel this way if the MTX and Stash tabs didn't transfer. This is a rare chance for them to dig in and rip out the stuff in PoE1 that have stuck around because they've always existed, and removing them would radically change the core of the game, risking ruining it, or at the least, ruining it for the players who love it as it is. I -love- the new gem system, they way gem cutters work, the way leveling gem works, and the ease of swapping supports and skills out. If I change to a far better chest piece, I don't first need to spend a thousand fusing orbs to link it and ten thousand color orbs to get the exact color set up I need for the build to work. I can just equip it without toppling the house of cards, even if it's corrupted! Ditching the old conversions also cool, though not something I've had a chance to explore in PoE2, having a locked tier of conversions really hamstrung some options, and now permits some really cool conversion uniques to exist. Lovin' the vibe of the new map system actually being a 'physical' place that you move around on. It gives this nice 4X feel, even if fully vestal, of actually having a world around you, and not an abstraction of a world. While PoE2 has a few bumps to grind out, this is another huge step in a right direction as far as I'm concerned, and they'd have to really screw up before launch for me to really consider playing PoE1 with any time at this point. |
