I see zero indications that the developers are treating the campaign as a glorified tutorial. In fact if I recall they say that most players drop the game entirely after finishing it, and don't spend time in the endgame, or very little. Those who are used to thinking this way have impatience towards the length of the campaign and just want to get to mapping. I don't think balancing the game around impatience is a good idea, but that's just me.

I hold 10k hours in mapping. Maybe a few hundred of those are in campaigns. I would bet my savings that many a PoE player share this characteristic. I have no patience for what does not captivate me and ALL the patience for the things that do. The game has what i like.

Give me the option to get there as fast as possible so that I can sink another 10k hours in what I enjoy and I will gladly do exactly that.

My own psychoanalysis is not that you or people like you hate the campaign, but that they hate starting from scratch. If you were to jump in from 0 but in an atlas mapping design, you'd also feel impatient that you don't have all the endgame gear and skills. Then you'd be asking for free 80 levels or whatever. Impatience is insatiable. You want to feel strong as fast as possible, not "do maps" as fast as possible.

Really ? Any yet, people like us LOVE League resets. How do you combine that? Why do we love league resets if we hate the campaign so much ?

You wouldn't like it if the exact same league was just wiped and reset to the same content. You like new content, and if you're talking about poe1 leagues, the game is already designed for an impatient campaign (which is why I think they are doing things differently for poe2 as long as poe1 remains).

I was so impatient that i spent 3 days in 0.2 to get to maps compared to about 6h in PoE1. Oh so "impatient" ...

And you hated every second of it.

I think he is right though. You just want to blast, and in PoE 1 the "campaign" is like what, a couple of hours long or something?

ARPG's are all about the 0 to hero experience. PoE 2 has that while PoE 1 doesn't. You start essentially a god and become.. more god. Imo, an extremely boring experience.
Path of Exile 2: Still Just a Loot Box Simulator in Disguise

Let’s stop pretending the “campaign” is the game. It’s not. It’s a glorified tutorial designed to bait you into the actual gameplay loop: mapping. And once you hit that phase, it becomes painfully obvious what POE2 really is — POE1 with a fresh coat of paint and the same predatory RNG mechanics dressed up as "endgame."

Character mechanics? Cool. Class design? Interesting. But none of it matters when the loot system is a slot machine rigged for trade dependency. You don't find gear for your build. You find gear for someone else's build, forcing you to engage with the archaic trade system that POE1 was infamous for.

This isn’t a loot-based ARPG — it’s a loot box simulator masquerading as a game. You’re not rewarded for playing well or building smart. You're rewarded for grinding content that drops random trash and then begging the market for upgrades.

Same grind. Same RNG clown fiesta. Same POE1 economy driving everything behind the scenes. Path of Exile 2 just swapped the wallpaper.
