in d3 a socket isnt really complex, it can only mean : +30str, +30int, +30dex.
In Poe, where most endgame builds fill every item's 4-5-6 link and doesnt have a spare socket, it can mean a lot of things.. An extra skill without any support. It can be an extra curse, an extra tactical skill(smokemine,movementskills,etc)..........................
