Another option is that you could have the BV wand for mapping then use Skele wand for bosses.

I actually don't run Desecrate + Offering + Skele on my own summoner anymore because the vaal skeletons are only really useful for boss fights.

I don't recommend a 5-link Vis, nor do I ever use one (except for an old demo video).

Six reasons:
1. 3x 6-link spectres have the same overall DPS as 4x 5-link spectres
2. The cost of a Tabula is less than a 5L Vis*
3. The cost of a 6L cratfing base + Essence of Greed is less than a 5L Vis*
4. Vis has no life or resistances
5. Vis has a penalty to minion life: 20% reduction.
6. ES is not important in this build.

I recommend a Tabula or a crafted 6L rare (regular, non +1 spectre). This cost me 22c (20c for base + 1c for essence, rolled 2 times):


Then you save up. 6L vis is a good safe option. It'll cost you 4-5ex to buy a 6L from trade. If you're willing to gamble a bit, the +1 spectre crafted chest is the best, but it is very possible to dump 100s of fuses and get nothing. Then the crafting is expensive. 2ex for multimod and 3ex for additional curse. So expect to spend 7+ ex for the crafted rare chest.

*This does depend on age of league, though.

Those chests are like 100c :)

That's pretty much it. I wouldn't recommend doing it until you have a fair amount of currency to spare.

Ok, mmmm I would'nt really push towards a 6L vigor mortis as of now, I advice the following two steps:

2.- Try to find yourself a +1 spectre rare armor, that's the true endgame chest, I honestly wouldn't change from a tabula for anything else. 6 linking a rare chest is easier than a Vis Mortis (because you can craft quality to six link as suggested in the guide).

Thanks for your quick reply. With using fracture's, the boots seem within my reach. It looks like I can find the two-tone's with a +30 MS fracture for around 50c. Not sure how many time I will need to apply Bound + Pristine, but it should not be to bad.

You are a genius. Found a workable Two-Tone and rolled this in two tries :) Wish that I did not get the life roll so that I could craft a decent one, but this will work for now.

I've somewhat retired the DPS build because earlier in Synthesis league, people posted on the build guide that they had a lot of trouble with survivability.

The gear is actually the same as the (new) default build (formerly 'defensive build'). If you import the PoB, you can see the gem links. I can dig up the old gem links info if you want.

First off, I want to thank you so much for being as helpful as you are with everything. :) I am brand new to this game starting this last season and this is my very first build and build guide i have used. I have been following it very closely and its awesome to see how attentive you are to everyones questions and that u keep up with and upgrade your build.

Also your welcome for pointing out the deleted note about the IC and CWDT. Im glad i could be of some help :)

What exactly would stop u from gettin IC to lvl 3? it seems like it would be more helpful and CWDT would still work on it seeing that lvl 3 IC brings it right to "requires lvl 38" - or lower needed from the lvl 1 CWDT gem.

It's for simplicity; keep both at level 1 and you're done. It's easy to accidentally over-level IC, especially when there are monsters dying left and right and you mindlessly click the level up icon.

Also, IC doesn't offer any bonus at higher levels unless you have endurance charges: "(100-157)% increased Buff Duration per Endurance Charge". and there are no easy ways to generate them.

You could, however, increase the level of CWDT. There is a lot of debate around this, though. Some people say leave it at level 1, some peoples say level it until it takes 10%/20%/30% of your ehp to trigger.


I personally don't use IC. I prefer Frost Wall because it casts an inpenetrable barrier - but it is extremely dangerous as as you can block your own movement with it.

Do you really need cold/lightning spell damage on wand for defensive lineup? Won't you still be using storm brand to trigger elemental equlibrium?

can someone tell me what the secret is to be able to run haste AND Zealotry? I'm sure it's listed in the guide somewhere, but I can't find it. Currently I can only run Haste If I try and socket Zealotry, I literally have Zero Mana and can't cast anything.

Faster Proj for mapping/clear speed. You can swap to Slower Proj for bosses if you want more DPS. I left off the 'shock on focus' craft for the ring. That'll give you another 20%. You can select 'covered in ash' to simulate it.

The build runs Zealotry + Haste - I forgot to change Haste to Vaal Haste (would give a nice boost).

With Slower Proj + Shock on Focus, spectres are at 1.4m. 1.6m with Vaal Haste.[/quote]

If you have cold/lightning on your trigger wand, then BV will apply EE to everything your run past without needing to stop and cast SB. You'll notice this the most in delve.
