I'm struggling to scale any damage on this build. I have the zombies linked with Raise Zombie > Summon Phantasm > Energy Leech > Chance to poison > Meat Shield > Cruelty yet they don't seem to do any damage. What am I doing wrong?
Hey, WTL!

I'm not sure if you're playing another build now or not, but the setup that I saw when I clicked on your character was quite different from the one posted. Even little changes can be big changes in this game. So if you are playing this build still, slowly make your way back to what the posted build provides and I think you'll enjoy the difference. That being said, remember that this is an HC build. Offence is secondary.

I'm at the end of Act 6. I'm also trying out your Fire build. It's going well.

Cool. I enjoy that build. I played it a bit today and it made me smile.

Heyhey, thanks for the build! I managed to beat the campaign in the current Runic Gauntlet with it. Can't say it was stress free, boosted bosses are scary, I over-leveled as much as possible. Also, modified the build a bit to insert SRS and Vaal Skeletons for extra damage, here is my POB right after finishing Kitava: https://pobb.in/lHZtooDTGkyS

Aweseom, arghtype!

Nice job in the Gauntlet! Beating the campaign is a big deal! The Gauntlet is never a stress-free experience so way to go! I like the changes you made to the build! How did the build feel? Where did you get to in the event?

The build felt very solid defense wise (even without Sand Stance - I skipped mana nodes for now and can't enable it yet). Only had a couple of close calls during the campaign:
- act 2 Vaal Oversoul almost got me, but it's pretty early in the game and I didn't have half of the gems. Zombies got killed a lot and I basically cleared it with SRS.
- act 4 laser Malachai almost killed me, I got hit by degen lasers and luckily had a portal opened, so I escaped, took a breath and returned to the fight and cleared it;
- act 6 Brine King - got hit by a failing anchor, it brought me down to like 10%. The arena itself is tiny and minions block view a lot, so this was a tough one for me.
- act 8 explosion fest Doedre with buffed aoe - there was literally no safe spot in the arena, I was constantly pressing flasks;
- act 9 Trinity - degen balls are bad, had to restart the fight once because of bad balls placement. People on reddit complained about summoned scorpions, but they didn't hit me that hard.
Everything else was as chill as hardcore can get.

DPS felt really weak, that's why I ended up using SRS and Skeletons. In Ascendancy I prioritized defense, so Bone Barrier first, then Unnatural Strength as a 3rd ascendancy only in act 9 and this is where I felt damage went up significantly.

I ended up getting to lvl 80 and to early white maps. The event is too short for me, I'm not a speed runner :)

Yikes! I read this the day you posted it and totally thought I responded! Sorry for the delay! I enjoyed reading that and seeing the changes that you made and what your experiences were like at certain stages. Level 80 is phenomenal! Awesome job, that's really cool. Nice work!

Dear Wrecker,

I've been following your Zombie build for a while now and I want to kindly thank you for making my comeback to PoE such a pleasant experience.

I keep to SSF, play rather slow, always wanted to keep it as casual as ARPG can be - your instructions and ideas make it exactly this way. A few years ago I've been following some Arc Witch build - and while it was fun at most, I kept dying in campaign, what to say about maps... I constantly felt lack of control, and what was worse: I didn't know what I can do to change that, any own tweaks to that build didn't help. Back then either SSF builds weren't a thing or I simply didn't look for one, just grabbed what seemed like a cool playstyle (and arc-clearing whole rooms definitely was fun).

With your Zombie build my campaign went smooth and without a single death, and even in maps I rarely die (and these are all due to my own stupidity like going head on int the room without sending minions first - rare, but still happens). Its survivability and item-independence feel great, I can do what I like to do: adapt. And I changed a few things here and there - I like to add some skeletons and SRS to the party (the more, the merrier), but its core ingenuity is still thanks to the direction you pointed, one I've never seen myself.

I have never enjoyed PoE so much before. Thank you very, very much.

That's a really rad message, Wander.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write that all out and be so kind with your time and words! I really appreciate it!

I'm glad the build works so great for you in combination with the game. I LOVE theory-crafting a billion different ideas in my head about different builds, but I always only end up playing the Zombie build. Sometimes, no matter how much I like an idea, it doesn't suit either the game or my playstyle. So I'm glad that my Zombie build helped you find a way to really enjoy the game the way that you want to.

Thanks again for your generous time. You're fantastic, Wander :) .

Sorry for asking, I'm sure I'm overlooking this somewhere but in what order do we take the Necromancer skills? I'm guessing we go to the far left and get the Elemental Resistances first? I'm a noob though so not sure. Then where do we go from there or what is the right order to take these in?

Edit: Also what's the deal with "Petrified Blood"? How are we supposed to play around this? Do we get something in the passive tree that negates this effect? Are we just supposed to walk around with 50% HP all the time? Do you not use Life Flasks to top yourself off to 100% or do you? It feels so dangerous sitting at that low of HP.
