Theres no reason to take Steel Skin, just take reflexes + leather and steel. take the 4 8% life nodes on the way.Its much better that way.

5 frenzy charges wont be a big difference in mana cost than 6, only the attack speed makes a difference, which you already took, you're better off just having 6 frenzy charges than attack speed nodes. Through those charges you get a lot of IPD and IAS, more than you can get from the skill points that you will spend to get them.So youll get off cheaper with the tree and get the same damage, then you can put more points in defensive passives, like rez and life.

You probably will not need celerity, you can use that passive on a better point.

You wont have any major mana problems if you use mana leech, i got 6 frenzy charges with a lot of attacks per second and its not that mana hungry.

Those are too many attack skills you will only need 2, 1 for rares and bosses such as frenzy and the second for area split or RoA whichever you prefer.

You wont need life leech as a support gem, you can get nice life leech mods on rings and amulets and quivers.

There is no reason to use weapon elemental damage on a physical damage build.

I strongly suggest you also use Chain as a support for PB builds its an insane support.

Well, for points's sake I decided that it's easier to get Steel Skin than it is to get Reflexes. And if I follow your advice and stick with 6 Frenzy charges and less IAS nodes, my build would probably then look something like this: Build at lvl 80

As for Celerity, that passive's there in case I can't find a pair of boots with a high enough MS. If I do end up not using it, I could always respec it into more life or rez.

I've never used Chain before, but it might be worth if I can chain 3+ attacks.

I could probably go without a life leech gem, as I'd probably go with Life Gain on Hit with Rain of Arrows (Faster Attacks, Faster Projectiles, Life Gain on Hit). Then as you said, get life leech on gloves, quivers, rings, and amulets.

If I take out Burning Arrow (a solid and cheap skill), it would indeed leave me with more room for extra skills like Decoy Totem and Devouring/Rejuvenation Totem. I wonder if Frost Wall still worth getting? I've heard that it's base duration has been nerfed to hell but I can see a lot of utility for it in CQC.

Yup that looks pretty good, you can sacrifice the 30+ strength + steel skin for reflexes (you will have more armor) if you get strength on gear.

btw if you want to use the pierce support for your PB skills, use only that, its not worth using chain as well since you wont chain if it pierces. It's up to preference, both will work.

Frost wall isnt as good unfortunately and it does require a lot of intelligence, so overall not worth it. I recommend using Decoy as you said, Projectile weakness as a curse it will work very well with this build. For CQC you're basically set anyway, PB will overkill everything with piercing and proj weakness.

Anther skill you can use and that would help is Enduring Cry, since you will be fighting up close extra DR and rez will be very helpful.

I pick up the +30 Str node is because as a single node, it provides a flat 15 HP (30str/2=15), which is pretty good and then multiplied by the HP nodes you've gotten. And from what I hear, once you got IR, taking Armor nodes like Steel Skin is better than taking evasion nodes. From what I've seen on my other IR Ranger builds, Steel Skin does work out like Reflexes. (also one of the nodes provides a 12% increase, so I win out by an extra 2% :P).

As for Chain, I've been looking into it and that skill is as mana expensive as GMP, so a Pierce support may be the better alternative, and especially since like you said, it won't chain if it pierces.

And Enduring Cry seems a lot more attractive when considering I'm going to be up front for mostly CQC, and I have enough Str to level both Decoy and Enduring Cry.

Thanks for the replies and fleshing out my build. I'm hoping by OB, we can get some more Bow physical skills/supports that can really put the shine into this build.

Passive skill tree link is not showing any points spent.

Would you recommend this build at at lower levels like 17-30 or at that level its very gear dependent?

passive tree works now, there was a reset, just spent the points.

Its not really gear dependant, i posted a walkthrough of the build in this thread, just go through the pages, it's somewhere around here.

I think you are misleading people when you say it is not gear dependent. A physical build like this is extremely gear dependent. Physical damage sucks in comparison to elemental damage. You need a lot of good gear to make up for that lack of elemental damage. That magnate alone is like 5gcp+ and a new player will not be able to afford that anytime until end game.

you can just replace it with a heavy belt(str implicit mod belt) that has life and some rez mods, builds are a guide, not something you need to copy exactly, maybe some rangers that want to use this build would prefer that kind of a belt, or a meginords girdle, even a wurm's molt would work, for me, the magnate does the job.

And physical damage bows dont get too much attention, so they are not expensive.
(if i remeber correctly i payed about 2 gcps for mine, a bargain, it wasn't 5linked , i did that, and i've been using that bow since i bought it a very long time ago, in the MoC days).

none of those gems need to be 20%, but when the times comes i suggest you start with mana leech and then rain of arrows because those 2 give the best bonuses on this build in my opinion.

Eva + life/rez gear is easly bought in merciless for fair prices because its quite common.

The only single thing this build needs is mana leech on rings, and life leech on amulet, and/or quiver, the rings and amulet you can do by just using transmutation orbs on them then using alteration orbs until you get the suggested mod, i'd say thats a pretty cheap start until you get better ones, it is what i did.

I have stated this, and will do so again, no one started with perfect gear, we got it by playing the game.
